So, what conjures up in your mind when you hear one of Michael Jackson's songs on the radio?

Personally, I always DID like a lot of his music but I have never been a "Fan" especially after the plastic surgery started to make him look like Mickey Mouse  !

They showed a computer generated picture of what MJ might look like today if he'd never gotten surgery and he was pretty normal looking. What's so wrong with that?

He really hasn't put out truly worthwhile music since the album Bad. If you don't include his work with the Jackson Five, and focus on his solo career, Bad being his last worthwhile album means he only produced three worthwhile albums, Bad, Thriller, and Off the Wall. That body of work is not exactly worth all the hype he gets. Dangerous frankly sucked, and the albums and songs that came after that brought the term sucked to a truly higher level. This from a person who you could call a fan of his first three albums.

Aside from his music career, he has brought new meaning to the concept of a deranged celebrity, and makes Marlon Brando seem normal by comparison. He is famous these days simply for being famous, not unlike Paris Hilton, and I'd like to see him found guilty(and be guilty) to get him off the public stage completely, since he no longer has anything productive to give to the world.

I honestly don't know if he has that skin disease or not, but the plastic surgery was a bad idea.

Music-wise, I stopped listening after Thriller. I liked the singles that came out of the other two albums that CO mentioned, but haven't listened to the whole thing.

I don't think he's in the public eye right now due to his "own actions", but rather because of the media trial and he's a celebrity (and he's been accused of this before). But if it wasn't for the trial, he's pretty low-key (except for weird stunts like dangling his kid off the balcony a couple of years ago).

Yeah, that dangling incident made me very angry being a parent and all. Also, dressing his kids with veils is just darn spooky.

He was actually quite popular about the time of Thriller. If I remember correctly, he got some big award. Wasn't "lifetime achievment", but something like that. I think there were a lot of people who were fans back then. I certainly liked most of his music through Thriller and some of Bad.

Some people can't handle fame, either. I'm betting that was a big part of it because it was right after that he started really losing it and doing all sorts of odd stuff.
