Magic: The Gathering Online Events - Prophet
Wizards of the Coast will be showcasing Magic: The Gathering Online, the (obviously) online, digital version of their ultra popular roleplaying-flavored collectible trading card game for the PC. They'll be showcasing what this game has to offer at their E3Expo booth (#4005, Petree Hall) with a variety of activities including a head-to-head Magic Online competition between Magic: The Gathering Creator Richard Garfield and Magic Pro Tour Player Chris Benafel, along with game demos, interviews and other interesting and fun stuff.
Will it suck in new players? Who will pay? :)

I'm gonna guess 'yes'.
Then the game will go live in a month, chasing most of them away again.

Who in their sane mind would spend $3.29 a piece for a pack of non-real cards. you have to collect the whole ****** set to actually get any cards from them!!!! (sorry we get a little P'ed off when it comes to WotC getting more money than they desearve.)

Wizards is not marketing MTGO to people who already play magic regularly. This is for people that are more comfortable in their home than in a card shop or someone who has trouble finding people to play. It would be very stupid of wizards to make MTGO so inexpensive that people play on it instead of in real life. I really don't understand peoples problems with Wizards. We live in a capitalist society. Why would you expect a company to not charge for a product? If you don't like the price don't buy it. It's not like it is food or air, it's a game.

People like me are WotC's target market...I have noplace to play near me, so it's MTGO or nothing. They're also trying to draw people into the game via the online game.

I honestly think that nobody with a brain will use the redemption feature. It's simply not worth it.

I"m reporting this that Chris B. beated Richard Garfield in online sealed deck. I would type out what happen during the match but I didn't bother looking becasue I was sitting in a very comfortable chair and didn't want to get out after walking around E3. But when I checked C.B. had outa Vampiric Dragon, chainflinger and a skyuwing aven out while Richard had out a Ember beast.

I saw MTGO in action for the first time yesterday and I kinda like the drafting part of it alot. The way MTGO handles Madness was kinda confusing at first. Alan comer was there helping explain how madness works after he watch my friend josh burn for 2 trying to pay madness to Circular logic. I still wonder why he had 2 mana in his pool.
