Hello all, I'm a Beaver Scout Leader in the UK. Beaver Scouts = 6 to 8 year old boys.
So if anyone has ideas of games or activities which are done by the same age ranges in your countries, let me know please. I maybe able to do a themed evening around them.

At present I am also trying to run the local Scout Troop, dure to leader shortage. So again any ideas are welcome. If anyone fances seeing if we could do a info swap with a troop from another country, as part of a badge or award let me know & I'll see if we can do anything.

Have 'em make wooden napkin holders. My mom still uses the one I made her like 15 years ago in Cub Scouts.

Might have a problem there, we cannot let this troop have knives or anything sharp, as they do enought damage to each other without weapons.
We could try clay or wicker work, if I can find the bits. I'll see what the GSL thinks.

Thanks.

No knives?!?

Whats scouting without knives. Sure you have the ocasional contendant for the finger carving meritbadge, but thats easily repaired. :D

As for activities, I recomend outdoor games. The scouts I work with are between 12 and 14, but I bet you can still do the same games.

Log: You take a log of decent length and width. One scout at each end. you try to knock the other person off. either by rolling the log or charging and pushing the other scout off. The winner is the last one on the log. no touching the ground. Problems: well, we did have a broken arm and a kid with a concusion. And my camp did ban the game. but it was the funest.

Timed obstical corse: Either just a complex race or something with compases.

Race: Kids seem to like running. a 100 m dash or something like that would be fun. although I wouldn't make it too long. No 10K's :)

I do a few more activities at my camp, but I don't have time to relay them now.
I'll try to write more in later.

In UK school years 2 & 3.

Scouts are 10 to 14 (year 5 to 9).

No outside activities, please at this time. The Scout hut is on local common land, one the local water commany is putting a new super water main across it.
Two, we have this Foot & Mouth problem, so there is a ban on the use of open places which have farm animals or which maybe used by wild deer. So we cannot do much outside, I've loads of wide game ideas, also it is still dark here during meeting time
