Type One Sucks
by Matt Smith

(Note to you tetchy Beyond Dominians – yes, I know. Start writing your counter articles now. Snootchie bootchies! The Ferrett)

You see, Type One should really be called P9IWYLS (Power 9 I win you lose Sucka). Every deck in Type One is Power Nine, anyway. Look at the deck lists and you’ll see (If you can find any). So what if after every new set comes out — how can they possibly impact Type One? It’s not like any of the new cards printed are going to make a difference. Who cares if there are new combos waiting to be discovered for Type One, because no one plays the format? It’s not like the next PTQ is going to rely on it. Why bother playing with old cards in Type One when you can play them in five color? I’m with you. Type One stinks.

Dragon Gold, The Type One Hoard: Wrong, Matt.
by Darren Di Battista

The following statement bothered me in particular: "We can tell Type One players how to make a deck: Throw together the power nine, all the restricted cards and some Counterspells — voila! Who bothers to learn deck names?" I can tell you how to make a categorically inferior Type One deck: Follow that advice.

Understanding Type One Sucks: The Cliffs Notes Rebuttal
by Matt Smith

A man will let a few things slide in his life. You can call his collection crap, you can question his playing skills — heck, you can even NOT read his articles — but don’t call him out on his writing.

Why You Shouldn’t Force Of Will A Channeled Fireball
by Oscar Tan

Mr. Smith’s central example was a Force of Will stopping a Channeled Fireball. To quote Mr. Smith:

"Sack the Lotus for three green, cast Channel and pay nineteen life?"
"Okay."
"Tap Ruby for red and fireball you for twenty?"
"I’ll pay one life and Force of Will the Fireball. You’re at one."

First of all, Mr. Smith’s "ideal player" should have lost when he countered the Fireball. Why?

That's a bit more than what you mentioned in the PM or email. My problem was that I didn't know Star City's full url, apparently.

I'll do a link from the front page to here the next time I do an update :) Thanks.
