Let's get a new sanctioned format!!!

In Alongi's latest article at MTG.com:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/aa101

He has a vote at the bottom asking whether or not a new format should be added to the sanctioned ones. Man, there is no multiplayer format and there should be!

Please vote on this topic, and let the casual players be heard!

Alongi does say this, though:
Once I see the results, I imagine I'll have a column on the topic – but readers should not take the presence of this question as anything but one person's interest, nor the results as anything but a poll of my readership on an interesting, theoretical topic. To the best of my knowledge, Wizards is NOT considering ANY new sanctioned formats. (If they were, I would have let it slip!) So relax, and just answer the poll. Thanks!
But let's not be discouraged. If the folks at WotC see there is a major want for a multiplayer format, chances are they'll grant us that wish! :D

(Note to Mods: Any chance of a front-page link to Alongi's article with a note about the vote--that way folks know to go there and make the casual voice be heard?)

I'll try to cook up an article on this, but there is already a Mad Dog Rant in the pipeline for next week. Doh!

did a 5 player draft (multi-player format) yesterday. It was fun.
The winner drafted a mon-green deck and won.
We palyed the version of the two people on either side of you are your allies and your enemies were the two opposite of you. The first player to have their enemies dead first, won.

Multiplayer can't be sanctioned. That's just part of its nature.

There are problems with multiplayer, yes, but they can be overcome if the players and judges are not lazy.

If you have any experience with casual gaming on MTGO, you'd see its incredibly easy to sanction formats such as Two-Headed Giant.

I really think they are fishing in a bucket here... A new format - especially a Multiplayer format is likely to bring more people in... Most casual players play multiplayer almost exclusively. Our group enjoys 2-Headed Giant and Emperor the most.

2-Headed Giant is a blast - and there are variants which make it even more fun. I doubt Wizards would accept this format - but when you pick teams at random when you start the game (or match) then it makes for less collusion among decks...

I always hate it when you get 2 people playing decks that feed off each other - especially when one team doesn't plan for that.

Well then, whatever support they need, I hope they get! :D

I'll check that out and see. Man, would be nice to get 2hg sanctioned...

That way I'd have something to look forward to when I rejoin the DCI in 2007...

SeFRo - why not just make a time machine and make it 2007 already...

I'd be graduating with a dual masters and the world would be great...:D

I would make a time machine, but all my techno parts have been scavenged up for my rocket ship project. You see, I heard that cheater Nick Eisel lives on Earth, so in protest of Earth supporting him, I am building a rocket ship to fly somewhere else and show the Earth I can put my rent money into somewhere else's coffers.

Its not really that much different from the protest a lot of elitist buyers at Star City have done in reaction to Eisel....or to a smaller degree myself. :D

I bet that disclaimer was just for you SeFRo, because of your past assertions that Anthony had some influence at WOTC... :)

I can put up a front page link to it for today's news.

He doesn't have a connection with WotC, per-se...but he does get insider info. I'll stand by that.

As for cases where I have put my foot in my mouth...yes, I still stand by the whole "That comment about new trample by ALongi means something".....but we'll just have to see. Oh, and my rocket ship is turning out nicely. About two more bottles of elmer's blue and five rubber bands, and the ship will be ready to go! I just need some fuel now...

I stand by still doubting it. And if he does get insider info, I don't think he shares it until after it's already been released to the public later. :)

I wonder if I have some sort of WoTC insider psychic ability... with how they keep stealing my ideas...

"reminds me of that ESP-N commercial..."

Same here. The way they steal all my ideas for basic lands ticks me off!!!

*was the one who a few years back used to say Basic Lands should say "basic land" on their type line.

It's all a conspiracy SeFRo, and we're the low ones on the conspiracy's survival list...
