Well...in two hours or so, I'm going in to surgery.
Unsure of when I'll be back...definitely no earlier than Sunday, possibly later.
Wish me luck.

Hope they don't give you any "freakout" medication...

I didn't like the unwanted "trips" my painkillers that I got after my wisdom teeth were out gave me...

When I had my (very) broken leg fixed, I had some serious trips. Unfortunately, one of those trips occured during my math final, which I failed miserably, ruining my grade for the semester. So trips aren't necessarily good.

Nevertheless, best of luck, Isty! What exactly are you having surgery for, anyway?

Whatever it is, hopefully it's not bad and we'll see you soon. Bye!

Well, I'm back, sort of.

It was eye surgery. (I know, kind of a lame 'surgery'...but anything where they have to cut your eye open counts as surgery to me.)

My vision hasn't completely cleared up yet...what I'm typing now is still a little bit hazy...but for the most part, my need for glasses is gone.

Things I Have Learned:
When someone applies a suction machine to your eye to pull back a corneal flap, THAT HURTS.
When someone uses a metal thing to pry your eyelids open, THAT HURTS.
When someone shoots a laser into your eyes...oddly enough, that doesn't hurt at all.
I appear to have Protection from Valium. One pill is supposed to make me giddy and put me to sleep for about eight hours...and it worked for about half an hour. Two should have made me comatose until this morning...and the second one had little more effect than the first one.

...you went on surgery to fix your eye so wouldn't need glasses? I really don't mind, but I mean...did having glasses bother you that much?

Glasses/contacts are a big pain in the oink. :cool:

I'm so glad my eyes work so well... The rest of me may be shoddily constructed, but my eyes work JUST fine. :)

Duke - I had 20/500 vision. Eventually, I would have been uncorrectably blind.

Wow... that's pretty nasty eyesight. Mines 20/15 (What normal people can see from 20 meters away, I can see from 15) so its better that good :) (Not to rub it in or anything.... don't hurt me!)

I've had about 7 surgeries in my life. I know what surgeries are about. I've had 3 open heart surgeries, (HAHAH!) a surgery to insert my tracheostomy, and a few other minor ones...

And I'm just fine:)...except...the insanity is a nasty side effect. That knock out gas they use has gotten to my brain...:D

You have that backwards.
You can see at 20m what the averageman can see at 15m.

I'm about 20/50. I might get the lasik stuff, but I don't know if it's worth it...least, not since my other vision problem, an inability to properly cross my eyes at range, wouldn't be fixed.

Lasik is nifty, and it works quite often.

Notice, though, how no one hears about the failures....

Not to put a damper on anything, though.

Nobody hears about the 'failures' because they occur in less than 1% of cases.

Yeah, but 1% slowly becomes a lot when you deal with thousands of cases.

You want an idea of how likely you are to have ANYTHING go wrong with Lasik?

Make a 60-card deck. Of those 60 cards, make ONE of them Unglued.
Shuffle to maximum randomization.
Draw a card.

If, and ONLY if it's the one Unglued card, shuffle them again.
Draw a card.

If, and ONLY if you draw the same card again, flip a coin.
If, and ONLY if it comes up heads, flip again.

If ALL of those things happen, something could go wrong.
