Late - night trivia

Hey there. It's 2:35 AM, and instead studying OR going to sleep, I decided to post a (hopefully) interesting little trivia question here.

Let's assume Bob (very creative name) is playing Mike (even more creative) in a game of tournament-legal Magic. Let's say Type 1 legal. Both decks are 60 cards. Unfortunately, both of them are very, very bad players. None of them have any cards that could deal damage in their deck! Neither do they have any cards that could draw them more cards, or manipulate library or graveyard! Neither of them took mulligan. But Bob says that he has a away to kill Mike!

How?

(so far, I myself got two ways to do it, and please don't give "Because he went second" as an answer ;) )

Assuming Bob doesn't mean KILL Mike literally , Bob is playing with that black creature that gives a poison counter everytime it attacks unblocks (which I forgot the name of).

(Spiderman, I think you're referring to Swamp Mosquito...)

Bob plays an Island Sanctuary. You said that they couldn't manipulate their library or graveyard, or draw more cards, but you never said they couldn't find a way to draw LESS cards.

If it weren't for the T-1 legal thing ... I'd have said Bob played an Amulet of Quoz and pulled out his lucky coin ... that or stroke his Goblin Bookie lovingly (or was it Orcish?). :D

I got it! Bob has Coalition Victory lurking somewhere in his deck! Nope. Too obvious. <mulls the matter a bit>

A-ha! I got! Bob gets Mike to agree to a "who snoozes, loses and it's a no-no to leave the table once the match starts" clause before starting the match ... then he proceeds to take an hour (roughly) to draw a card ... and has a healthy supply of Jolt cola and Columbian coffee at hand! That and a portable potty. :D

Swamp Mosquito was exactly the answer I was looking for! It has 0 power, so that it can't be considered a source of damage :)

Island Sanctuary is right also, but I haven't figured it out myself.

There are more right answers though :)

Kinda easy, huh ? :(

[me] does the Cabbage-Patch[/me]

Island Sanctuary causes you to skip drawing a card, so Bob stops drawing while Mike keeps drawing and decks himself.

Tsk. And I thought that the oddball clause was sure to win the prize. <laughs> Oh, well. C'est la vie. ;)

Oh, wait! I got it! Bob goes on an all-baked beans and sweet potato diet a week before the match! If the fumes don't kill Mike, nothing will!

Oh, wait. It has to be a Magic method. <sigh, grumble, grumble> Trix, if you want to be serious about it. Illusions of Grandeur + Donate. To be nit picky, the combo doesn't deal any damage whatsoever. <shrugs> Losing 20 life is just a side-effect, along with losing the match. None of the aforementioned combo:
a: deal damage
b: manipulate the library
c: manipulate the graveyard

Both cards of the combo:
a: T-1 legal

That's a boring answer though. :(

Mah bet's on the baked-beans diet... :D

Plenty of ways to win a game without dealing damage. Life loss would seem the obvious one- subversion might be best.

But the easiest thing to do is deck them. Several Ways:

(1)- Go first.
(2)- Use a millstone/grindstone.
(3)- Never draw a card again, using elfhame sanctuary, island sanctuary, bargain, necropotence....

Bob's deck is bigger than Mike's. If Bob's deck is 65 cards and Mike's deck is 60 cards, Mike will deck himself first.

Exactly! Here's another answer I was looking for!

Both of their decks are 60 cards.

And all the answers with losing life don't count because it's the same as dealing damage

Really, it's not, but since it's my trivia, I say it is. ;)
