Kin to Walls [EDH]

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
It had been over a year since I built a walls deck and apparently I can't help myself, even against my better judgment. Should Rolling Stones be in here? Probably. But it's not. We're not attacking. We're defending. Eventually, if no one kills us, I guess we win. If opponents somehow let this deck get a total of 40 toughness and its commander on the battlefield and Wound Reflection, then that probably wins. Well, that's the dream. Might never happen, though.

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Although I didn't type up my list for this deck until earlier this week, I've actually been playing it for the past three weeks. It's been the deck I've played most in that time. It hasn't won a game or really even come close at all. Still, there's just something special about this classic walls. I should do an actually good Wall Tribal deck at some point. Technically, I suppose that I did that a while back with "99 Ranch."

Not that it really matters, but why is Glyph of Reincarnation so bad? Most of the glyphs are hilariously underpowered, but the green one seems to be on another level here (and not in a good way).

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Played this deck last night. Somehow, I wasn't topdecking any walls at all. One of my opponents kicked Maddening Cacophony and another one immediately Bojuka Bogged me. I think that I was probably pretty doomed, but two of the players left the game to start a new one with their friend who'd just shown up to the store and we quickly replaced them with two more players, so I guess that game ended in a draw? Oh well.

Tried the deck again immediately in the next game, having not really gotten to do much in the aborted game anyway. This time I had a much better start, and really kept using Life from the Loam, which ended up being key. My opponents didn't even attack me, with Wall of Shards being big enough to tank the hits and also giving them free life anyway. One of my opponents started popping off with Purphoros triggers, so I knew that I needed better protection. I sacrificed Sterling Grove to tutor up a classic Oversoul maneuver: Solitary Confinement. Locking myself in jail, I still had Betor and Life from the Loam to generate card advantage. I used Hall of Heliod's Generosity to get Sterling Grove back, adding a hopeful layer of protection to the Solitary Confinement. The Purphoros player deployed Blood Moon, so I knew that trick couldn't keep working, but I was in a decent spot. Eventually, with it looking like my opponents were probably going to kill each other and bring this game into a 1-vs.-1 scenario, I cast Wound Reflection. One of my opponents hit the other two hard enough that Wound Reflection finished them off. To my amazement, I was able to Dark Petition for Patriarch's Bidding and actually hit that elusive 40-toughness mark. My final opponent was at 13 life, so Betor made him lose 7, then Wound Reflection made him lose another 7.

I honestly expected to probably never win a single game with this pile. Solitary Confinement is a Magic card.
