Killing is bad - Period.

Okay, this is a given. We all know that killing is bad. Most religions condemn it and most governments will punnish it.

Now, the question is: if you know someone is killing people, what do you do? Do you sit back and wait for karma/divine justice/civilian authorities to do something about it - or do you try and stop the killer(s) and punnish them for their crimes?

Another question: If all religions vanished would people kill as much as they do now?

I wouldn't try to punish the person myself, but depending on the circumstances, I might try to stop him (if it's a "happening now" thing) or turn him in (If it's a "found out about it" thing).

There would still be killing regardless of religion - there are plenty of reasons to kill not based on religion.

Actually - I'd let authorities in on the knowledge... but by using anonymity... don't need the killer getting ahold of my name...

but if they were standing in front of me - I'd waste a few bullets.

Now that I have a couple of answers, onto my next part of the question:

If you have the ability to stop the killer and keep him from killing again, would you try to stop it? Would you be willing to use deadly force to do so? Would you be willing to use deadly force if his friends try to kill you?

I have been in only one school shooting myself and think that when they snap, they snap good. Heres a little advise: If I see a gun, I'll beat the crap outta ya skull before I take it away.

A week suspended and we get the darned thing on the local news that I beat up a kid that had a gun in his hand.

This isn't leading up to having a time machine and traveling back to kill Hitler or whether this extends to the current war, does it... 'cause once you get into "nations", it doesn't hold. I assume we're talking individuals here.

But again, if the killing is happening "right now" (the guy is reloading), I might try to stop him. If I gained knowledge of past murders and there's a large timespan between them and now, I'll probably inform the authorities.

i myself would try to stop the... killing... if it was now... but if i find out later... the authorities rule... ive never been in a life endangering situation(excluding cars and ..... umm.... stuff i cant remember) so i think thats what i would do

Not that I would, I wouldn't. That would involve killing more people for one thing and freaking out billions.

I think killing and violence is in human nature. However, it should never be done unjustified, and that's where all the problems begin.

one lone person had the great idea to attack a small helpless (age 16) kid and take away his "gun." Is that so wrong?
