It's not new in that the cards are new...I've just never seen it discussed before. Here it is:
---------------
Squirrel Mob
1GG, Creature — Squirrel 2/2, Odyssey Rare
Squirrel Mob gets +1/+1 for each other Squirrel in play.
Druid's Call
1G, Enchant Creature, Odyssey Uncommon
Whenever enchanted creature is dealt damage, its controller puts that many 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens into play.
Pandemonium
3R, Enchantment, Exodus Rare
Whenever any creature comes into play, that creature’s controller may choose to have it deal damage equal to its power to target creature or player.
---------------
Get the Call on the Mob with Pandemonium out, then somehow deal a single damage to the Mob. Out comes a 1/1, hitting the now 3/3, making another 1/1, hitting the now 4/4...um, yeah, I guess ya see it...
I guess the squirrels can go infinite on about turn 4. If you get two Calls on the Mob, then while the squirrels are multiplying, you can also deal out infinite damage around the table.
One of the things I like about this is that it seems like a R/G deck can be built around it with fairly solid cards all around. Another slight bonus: Earthquake for one doesn't wreck your plans, as it just kills off, then recreates your army!
Any ideas? How should I approach the deck from here?
Well...here are some of my further thoughts:
Mana acceleration: Yes.
Chatter of the Squirrel could be nice as my one-damage pinger with the Pandemonium out. Or...Acorn Harvest? I like it, too.
Pitching an Anger to a Firestorm to hit the Mob for one would very, very nice. No sorcery speed mass-killers to worry about when your rodents are nice and hasty.
Speaking of Anger, why not Fires? It could help protect the Mob, as well.
Saproling Burst might be worthwhile simply for its 1-2 punch with Pandemonium (and great synergy with Fires/Anger).
And...why not the Hermit or the Nest? They're the best squirrel cards ever, after all.
Okay, I'll shut up now. I'm excited, though. This is pretty much the first big combo I've come up with independently and thought, "Well, that's almost kinda viable." So, any help would be greatly appreciated!
