Invasion: Void

Wow... Not too much to say here. This card is SICK if you can pay for it, which shouldn't turn out to be too hard. I must say, this card will be the reason for a number of black/red decks (not the basis, mind you...)

Well, this is certainly a good card, if a little overrated here. It isn't as good as Powder Keg (see below), but it is cool, and great in a control deck of the appropriate colors.

You aren't going to use the discard effect much. If they're playing weenies, they will have emptied their hand, and won't have anything to get. If they're playing fatties, they won't have many, so you won't get more than one or two. That's why the Keg is better; it's cheaper.

That said, this is definitely a great card. It wipes out many weenie decks, often getting 4 or 5 to one card advantage in one swoop.

Even I, the cynical one, am starting to get excited about Invasion.

Explain to me how no one can say the word 'Battletech' after seeing that picture? :) First thing through my head was 'I didn't know they were reusing art from Battletech in Magic!' I'm telling you guys, that is SO Mechwarrior 3.

Oh, yeah, there's text on it... Personally, I like this card. I probably won't play it much (directed removal is not my favorite, I perfer massive sweeps), but it's very powerful. Unfortunately, it's also very situational. I can't see that card being very good in multiplayer, either. Powder Keg tends to frighten people and make them come after you, but Void is a threat you don't play down; people will be scared of it even if you don't have it! That's Bad(tm).

In duels, I can see it functioning nicely. What you have is an overcosted removal card with a sometimes worthwhile discard effect thrown in for good measure. The plus side is, you can leave your creature intact while wiping out several of your opponent's, and end the game in a mad rush to victory. There's the problem of the restricting casting cost, but the sheer power of it as a removal spell makes it powerful.

Put simply, though, I would look forward more to Recoil or Lobotomy than this. But the art makes it all good.

this card will see a tons of tournament play. b/u will be the dominant color combo in the future magic environment.

this also helps with stuff like duress, or unmask, or telepathy, which are the same colors as void.

I dunno. It's an iffy card at best. ANyone else notice that both this and IObliterate leave enchantments intact? Loks like meteor storm could be effective after all!

Zadok I do think that your right it looks like battletech and I don't know my cards from battletech so I don't know it you have the right card name

As for the card I like it but it is not a card that I would play in many games but in the games that I played it in it would make an impact

The problem is, it's not blue.
People say "This is a better powder keg" but forget that powder keg, despite being included in both black and red removal, made it's biggest showing in blue control, replacing the sorely missed Disk.
