Counterlor
v1.0

2 Daze
4 Counterspell
4 Undermine
4 Thwart
1 Foil
(15)

4 Terror
3 Distorting Wake
(7)

4 Derelor
4 Air Elemental
(8)

4 Fact Or Fiction
(4)

2 Dust Bowl (if Kor Haven is played, maybe Terrain Generator or spells)
2 Salt Marsh
4 Underground River
4 Swamp
14 Island
(26)

This one is meant to be fast, counter turns1-4, drop a monster, use an ACC, then win. Might be too optimistic and need tweaking. Not sure about the creature removal mix, Vendetta might hurt too much. Looking at the Invasion rare Barrin`s Spite (choose two creatures, kill one, unsummon the other) but I think I need cheap Instant stuff not big sorceries.
It`s only an Alpha build remember, though, so be kind.

I'd suggest Waters:

4 Bouncer
4 Derelor
4 Troublesome Spirit
4 Rising Waters
1 Vampiric Tutor
3 Recoil/Snuff Out
3 Thwart
4 Counterspell
1 Foil
4 Daze
2 Charcoal Daimond
4 Sky Diamond
4 Port
5 Swamp
13 Islands

Or no waters, just aggro
4 Derelor
4 Stronghold Zepplin
3 Terror/Snuff Out
4 Undermine
4 Recoil/Boomerang/Withdraw/Wash Out
4 Counterspell
3 Thwart
1 Foil
4 Prohibit/Power Sink/Fact or Fiction
4 Desperate Research
4 Rishadan Port
4 Underground River
4 Salt Marsh
3 Swamp
10 Islands

the Research could be the best thing for aggro decks since Negator. I don't like all the high CC stuff in the other decks (Fact or Fiction, Distorting Wake, Derelor & Elemental)

I think an aggro U/B deck would work from Jay Schneider`s Goldfish base. This is hopefully more like AlTran beatdown.

Just a second. Isn`t Desperate Research absolutely terrible? It`s a Demonic Consult that only looks 7 cards deep isn`t it? You`d have to pay me to play with that because 50% of the time it`ll be a dead card. How bad is that?

(Checks spoiler list)

AND it`s a Sorcery?
Forget it.

I'm testing it a lot in a R/B beatdown deck, and it is terrible...like Consultaition is. If your card isn't in the top 7, your 7 cards closer to it. Yes it is balanced 9the cards doen't go to the GY and you can't get land), but it really helps in finding a Hammer or Skizzik, and I think it could be really helpful in finding a creature you need or what ever. i wopuldn't run 4 like I posted, but I think it may have a place. Yes, it probably would be better in a burn deck, but it is deep searching, and it is cheap.

Yeah, but Consult is like the best card EVER - even better than Demonic Tutor most of the time!
Why?
Because it GOT YOU THE CARD! It didn`t 'maybe' get the card, but at least get you closer to it (for a 2cc Sorcery effect) - it got you the card, and put it into your hand at the end of the oponent`s turn so you could hit him with it next turn.
I`d rather use Vampirics, I`d even rather run Rhystics as they are less likely to be useless.

Sorry, I might be wrong (and I`ve not tried it) but I think the Research is REALLY Desperate.

Someday, they're going to make a card similar to Pack Hunt that allows you to place multiple copies of a certain card on top of your library. Then maybe Desperate Research won't be so difficult to use. I found one, and I'm going to hold on to it just in case it gets broken someday.

I still remember the wonders Yawgmoth's Will performed on the Lion's Eye Diamond... ;)

Oh, and I do agree. Consult is one of the best tutors out there, so long as you're looking for a key card (assumed 4 copies in the deck). Perfect for combo decks actually.

I like the use of Air Elemental. He is a nice, balanced beatstick that doesn't see enough play. Please don't consider Troublesome Spirit for this deck, he renders your counters useless.

Also, I'm not sure about the 4 Thwarts. Granted you do have 14 islands but I still don't know if that is quite enough to run 4 maindeck. If you snap 3 islands back to your hand, you won't always have 2 Blue mana on the next turn to counter another spell (but you usually should).

Don't forget, with Derelor in play your Undermines now cost UUBB. I would need a ruling on this, but Blind Seer could potentially work very nicely with Derelor. When a player taps out to cast a spell, turn it black, they can't pay the extra B and the spell fizzles. Again, I'm not positive it would work this way but if it does, it saves you counter spells and/or ties up their mana.

Barrin's Spite is a great card, but I agree that it might be a little too slow for the type of control you want. It would probably be a nice sideboard card for the big beast decks you know are going to be more common.

Also, I would consider Drake-Skull Cameo or Sky Diamonds b/c as you said, Armageddons are going to be popping all over the place.

When is Wizards going to reprint some good 3CC Counters?

Not knowing what Blind Seer does, but I'm pretty sure Derelor only affects your black spells, not everyone's.

Yes, it does. Trust me on this.

I like b/u but aggro b/u needs a smaller cc creature base, and more. I used extravagants, drakes (Not sure about these), and bouncers.

Counterlor

2 Disrupt
4 prohibit
3 Undermine
3 Foil

4 Terror
4 Recoil
4 Vendetta

3 Derelor
3 Tidal Vision
3 Waterfront bouncers
3 Extravagant spirit
(8)

4 Fact Or Fiction
(4)

2 Dust Bowl (if Kor Haven is played, maybe Terrain Generator or spells)
2 Salt Marsh
4 Underground River
5 Swamp
7 Island

Well?

forget the bowls, play tsabo's web. That stops port, kor haven, and edge.
