Hi, this is deck designed to test the best cards I had on IBC... Turned out to be my first win on a tournament!!! I didn't had hope for me to do that good but on Top 8 I won every single game against a Solution, a R/G Beatdown and a Go-Mar...

Creatures:
4 Ravenous Rats
3 Necravolver
3 Spiritmonger
3 Voice of All
1 Desolation Angel
1 Gerrard Capashen (couldn't find another Desolation Angel)

Discard:
3 Gerrard Verdict
3 Addle

Removal:
2 Rout
3 Pernicious Deed
4 Vindicate

Drawing:
3 Phyrexian Arena

Finisher:
3 Death Grasp

Lands:
8 Plains
8 Swamp
2 Forest
2 Caves of Koilos
4 Llanowar Wastes

Sideboard:
2 Dismantling Blow (for Domain decks)
3 Crusading Knight (for Machinehead and Go-Mar)
1 Tsabo Decree (for Solution decks)
3 Crimson Acolyte (for G/R Beatdown decks)
3 Dodecapod (for mirror match)
3 Harsh Judgement (the best card on IBC agains burn)

The discard-beatdown-removal strategy was a very good choice and without any doubt, the best card in the deck is Vindicate ...

Hope you like it and share your thoughts with me... C-U!!!

Congrats dude. Are ya takin' any credit for it's creation? I don't think I've seen that deck around here. And kudos for you not to include Vindicate (that card is just insane  !).
BTW, you're not going to the PTQ in Butler, PA this weekend, are ya? (please, oh, please don't go ;))

<Edit: Oops, I see your NOT from around these here parts, are ya?>

For some utterly bizarre reason americans players appear to have abandoned the BW Arena deck archetype, even the version of green splash. I say bizarre because its blatantly one of the strongest decks available, so its no surprise to me that this deck does well as it`s probably not more than a half-dozen cards away from the decks that have won 3 PTQs here in the UK.

Basically we use Lynx over Rats, and would take out the Spiritmongers and a Voice to play 2 more land and 4 each of Addle and Verdict. Necravolver is such a powerful card though, far superior to Spiritmonger. Also we tend to like an Agenda in the deck.

Ok, that said. YJ- the guy just won his PTQ, even if he got on a plane from Venezuela he couldn`t play in your PTQ cos he`s already qualified.

I am currently working on a red splash version of the Arena deck, from the assumption that Void is a powerful card and Trenches are a less risky kill card than the Desolation Angel. The blue splash version doesn`t seem very good, you`d splash for Probe and maybe a couple of Dromars Charm, and then take all the other spells out and play NoMar.

4 Addle
4 Gerrards Verdict
2 Bog Down

4 Death Grasp
2 Urzas Rage
3 Vindicate
2 Rout
3 Void! Void! Void!

3 Phyrexian Arena
1 Yawgmoths Agenda

4 Spectral Lynx
2 Goblin Trenches

4 R/W land
4 B/R land
4 B/W land
1 Mountain
6 Swamp
7 Plains

SB:
2 Orims Thunder
1 Aura Blast
1 Desolation Angel
1 Yawgmoths Agenda
2 Bog Down
2 Samite Menistrations
2 Crusading Knight
2 Terminate (maybe, getting the red might prove hard)
1 Agonising Demise

I think the green splash is better even without Spiritmonger... The insane Pernicious Deed was the card that killed all the power of R/G Beatdown... I had to use all the creature control I can because R/G is THE deck here in Venezuela, followed by Domain... I didn't fear Domain thanx to Vindicate which gave me a way to deal with basic lands my opponent controlled... I even removed the Arenas against R/G and included Harsh Judgement to buy me some time to kill with Death Grasp (this is a GREAT card against R/G and Machine Head)...

I will have to try your Blue splash but I'm not quite sure about it... Also, I think the Rats discarding power is far better in this deck than the regeneration power of the Lynx... Discard, discard and discard!!! Good way to deal with every deck... Except for Go-Mar with Agenda... This was the only matchup I lost on the Swiss round... But I killed him on the finals thanx to a couple of well timed Vindicates that destroyed two of his Salt Marshes...

And Necravolver with both kickers was kicking oink!!! Trample and Spirit Link to feed my Arena!!! Very good creature... Against Domain I just used it without kickers to play a lot of creatures as fast as possible... Two rats and a Necravolver got the job done...

Thanx for your comments and I certainly recommend this deck for IBC tourneys...

#1: I agree that W/B is *insanely* good. Generally speaking, if a kickered Desolation Angel hits the table, the opponent can scoop. It also gives access to Gerrard's Verdict and Vindicate, two truly *amazing* cards from Apocalypse.

#2: However, I found that W/B/u is the *best* build. It provides Dromar's Charm (5 life for Arena or countermagic) and Absorb/Undermine, whichever you like better. Exclude stops Des. Angel cold unless you have your own countermagic to handle it.

I haven't had that much trouble with countermagic due to discard... But I have to admit that a couple of well timed Absorbs can give you the edge in a life race with Arena in play... I'll have to rethink this deck, but right now Deed, Spiritmonger and Necravolver are just too much to let me forget about green... :D
