I'm working on a website devoted to Red Burn, and part of it will be a "Burn Hall of Fame," featuring the top spells, creatures, and players associated with burn in Magic's history. I need some help in naming the initial six members of the Hall. It will include 2 players, 2 creatures, and 2 other spells at the beginning.
First, I'd like to get a list of nominees here, and then I'll have people email or PM me with your votes. Please nominate any you feel might be worthy of these first six spots.
I nominate:
Players:
Jay Schneider--designer of the first "Sligh" deck
Paul Sligh--helped popularize the deck with his PTQ success
David Price--has had more success than perhaps any other player with aggressive monored decks; his name is synonymous with Deadguy Red; Price of Progress was named for him
Ben Rubin--runner-up in Worlds '99 with Sligh/Deadguy; seems to be a fan of quick red (played with Goblin Cadets and Jackal Pup in the 2000 Invitational Type I portion); submitted an interesting red card for his 2000 Invitational card (I think players could bid life for the ownership of creatures...)
Burn Spells:
Lightning Bolt--an easy 3
Incinerate--a pretty easy 3 without the chance of regeneration
Fireblast--powerful, alternative-casting burn to finish off an opponent or take care of a creature when tapped out
Hammer of Bogardan--the gift that keeps on giving
Creatures
Ball Lightning--is this a creature or a burn spell? it's great...
Jackal Pup--perhaps monored's best 1-drop
Mogg Fanatic--a 1/1 that serves a purpose even if it's removed; takes out a 2 toughness creature if necessary; no real drawback like red's other great 1-drops
Well...please post your nominees here!
Thanks!
