Anyone around here know any good cures for depression?
I used to play magic alot and it cheered me up a bit, but no one around here will play me cause I almost always win (99% of the time). :(
I used to play video games a bit too, but now I just play Diablo II cause most of the other new ones give me a headache.
Otherwise my schedule is kinda set cause I'm stuck working 10+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

Any advice? Pleeeeease??

Ok at few things to try;
first: make bad/fun/inventive decks like basing your deck on something that should be very harmless, and give it teeth. Also try to have decks that have more of a 60% to 40% ratio of winning, your a casual player right?

second: there is nothing called to much diablo II and if you have a problem playing other games now I think the answer is fairly easy to see. If you hand hurts cause you have it stilling in a pot of boiling water, you take it out. So I think that this is your brains (might be blizzards too) way of saying that diablo II is the only game that you need to play.

third: find time for walking in parks and forest with 3 to 4 other adventures and kill stuff til you glaze the floor of the forest red with the blood of your victims (they don't have to be enemies to be fun to kill) or raze the whole area til you have changing the view from space.

fourth: find a special someone within the oppisite sex (unless your married, I can't be sure with you cause I don't know you that well) and date them or do what is called trying.

That is all I have for you, note unless your very good at the fourth or your very bad it will not lift your spirts.

Do what I do: Stop.

Just for a day or so, take a break from everything. Magic. games, anything and everything. Do something you've never done.

"Too good at magic, man! I want your problem."

How about play a game that maybe you won't be good at...Did you play You Don't Know Jack?...Thats a great game to play with other people...And its cheap now, if get the earlier editions...You won't believe how fun it is...Do you like doing art?...How about getting a picture editor and making some graphics...I like to do that...How about picking up a book and learning HTML or Java...Or buy a water fountain for your room!...

*All of the products above have been used and abused by Almindhra, so they must be good

thanks guys and gals

I used to have the fourth Namielus, then she broke up with me after dating for over a year because she made the decision that she is lesbian, (I can say that word here can't I?) and doesn't like guys (yes, we're still very close and good friends). So I've basically dropped the that entire area of life for now. :(

As for making decks like you proposed. I have done that. I've even built decks where I forgot to put in a way to kill people and just sat there being really iritating with a bunch of utility style cards. The problem is that they can still have their libraries emptied. :(
I am casual, but I'm an ex-pro turned casual, so i still have tendencies to make really good decks even out of not so hot cards.

Duel: Stop?? whats that word mean?
seriously though, I do try and stop and just sorta fall over to rest whenever I can, its just not to often. I consider surfing the boards here to be my down time just cause it relaxes me usually.

Almindhra: I've got that game, its alot of fun, but it sucks to play on your own.
I do do HTML, you commented on my page, the one with the nice ugly wood panel background.
Water fountain for my room though?? nice idea, I'll call a contracter.

*goes off into a corner to shed and cry*

thanks everyone

Try you hand at something artistic.I can get completely hyped when writing, painting,or sculpting. It does't have to be good just the act of creating can bring pleasure.Of course the act of destruction can be equally good, taking a 10lb hammer to an old junk car can be fun.Just don't let be the ex's car, while this might be fun a night in jail isn't.

If you have a balcony good.

Just step outside (the weather should still be great at this season).
If no balcony, go out for a walk

Breath deaply. Look around yourself.

If you are in a nice neighbourhood : just think about what you see, how cool nature is and that life can be sweet.
If you are in a bad neighbourhood : well I am sure you can see around people that have it worse than you.

Try (I know easy to say not easy to do) to think positive and objective.

Hey wanna play Magic, Maybe we can find sometime playing online, MIE or Appr. Or a round of D2 Open ? Send me a mail and we can arrange that.

take care and :)

Lighten up! You broke with your girlfriend. Move on. Find a new person. It'll be painful, but deal with it. It's life.
When you get sick of Magic, stop for a while. Go outside. Surf the web. If you have an instrument, play it.
There's more to do than sulking around.
Go live for once. :)

If you want to play Magic, I'll play (I have only M:IE). I'll probably lose most of the time, but I'm good at taking a beating.

I've got school, so I'm available mostly weekends and afternoons (late night weekends, say midnight, are good, but any time is fine). Let me know if you want to play.

Well, I don't know if you want to pick up a computer game, but I sure as heck like Baldur's Gate! And Majesty... and I want to get Rollercoaster Tycoon...

About the water fountain, I think Almindhra meant one of those desk-top portable ones. The ones for about $50 in nature stores and stuff...

...you are the person I would like to help:).

Whenever I'm feeling down, for any reason, what I'd do is, take a pencil, and take a paper. Write everything on my mind, just everything. It doesn't even have to make sense. Just write down what you're feeling. Keep writing them down. As you write, and get all those nasty words out, you'll feel the first sign of peace.

Then, if you're still down, take the words, and put them in an order, a random order. Just take that, and put it here, take that, put it there, take that, put it next to this, that, and those. You'll get something wiered, but, you'll know what it means, since you have put your feelings into it.

I also like to draw a lot.
With a regular pencil and a regular printing paper, I would just sketch. Usually, I sketch super modles, and that gets me cheerful fast.

You could do a lot of other stuff, but that's what I do.
I don't do it anymore, since I'm rarely feeling down now.
I still draw those super modles just for...um...fun...:)

These work for me:

Read a good book. Even an old favorite.

If you really like movies, see one. (If you don't, the expense will depress you even more.)

Hang out with your best friend. Banish from your presence all who say anything like "Cheer up," "Smile!" or, "It can't be that bad."

Make a tape (or burn a CD, if you've got the equipment) of whatever songs nake you feel better.
Alternatively, make a tape or CD of the songs that express what you're feeling right now.

More advice:

Sorry about the breakup. Stranger things have happened (to me). Don't rush into another one; you'll regret it.

Don't dwell on it. I know this might seem trite, but really... nothing is worse for the depressive than sitting around thinking, "I'm so depressed."

Don't be afraid to take a break from the things that used to be fun. Keeping up the same old habits may end up turning you against them in time.
