Hypergenetic Eureka [EDH]

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Played this deck last week. Just as it was about to get run over by the same opponent who was actively killing the whole table, I managed to hit Hypergenesis and develop a deadly board state. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a source of haste for my team on that turn, and my opponent had unblockable creatures, so he killed me before I could kill him.

After slogging through a color-screw (couldn't find red mana until the turn after an opponent cast Blood Moon anyway), I had multiple false starts and got to a pretty low life total. When I finally did cast Hypergenesis, it gave one of my opponents fuel to use Bolas's Citadel to kill me while also taking out another opponent. He finished off the last opponent on his turn.

It's part of the premise of this deck that Eureka or Hypergenesis might hand an opponent with strong permanents in hand the game. So yeah, oh well.

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
It's been a while. I played this deck again last night. I managed to cast a third-turn Entish Restoration into a fifth-turn Etherium Horn Sorcerer, which cascaded into Bloodbraid Elf, which cascaded into Shardless Agent, which cascaded into Hypergenesis.

I knew that Hypergenesis might hand an opponent the win. It didn't do so right away. Thee effect was actually kind of nuanced, creating different dynamics between different players at the table. For my part, I was able to cast Maelstrom Wanderer on my next turn, but it whiffed, hitting Boundless Realms and Mana Reflection. So I had tons of setup to practically guarantee victory on the following turn, but knew my opponents would never let me live that long.
