How strange are you...

This question was brought up by my mom today. It all started when she and I decided we should spend some quality time…since I have been too tied with college and its work. I do not want to break away from my family ties, so there was nothing better than to watch a nice, quite movie at home. You would naturally think a nice, cheerful movie would do the job in such case, but not at all. We got Hannibal. With few certain snacks, we watched a movie that one must not consume much upon watching.

The movie was over. I thought it was whimsical.

A bit of discussion about what the movie meant, and we eventually drifted into one of those long, debating conversations where one just cannot help but defend what one is expressing.

I do not think I am strange at all. I do, however, like to see how different you are, so please. Take a moment, and answer the following questions. Honestly.

1. Would you try to eat, with will, if legally offered a piece of cooked human brain? My mom was so amazed that I answered with an unhesitant “yes”.

2. Do you think cannibalism is strange? I do not.

3. Have you, by any means, tasted human blood? I certainly have.

4. Do you think sadism is strange? I believe it is one of the human natures.

5. Supposing you have certain desires or feelings that are perceived as abnormal or even immoral by the society, would you suppress such desires – desires of the sadism, incestuous, homosexuality, necrophilia, cannibalism, and homicide? Everything I am is explicit. The day I have to repress who I am is the day I will commit suicide. Nevertheless, I will never commit incestuous acts or those related to necrophilia, even if I have the strongest of temptations to do so. I would seek professional help, instantly, upon these urges, however, I do not think they are strange by many means.

You do not by any means have to answer any or all of these questions. They are the source of my curiosity. I would like to see what the others think, perhaps I would learn something new…

Strange topic, is it not?

1. No. While I don't think there's anything wrong with cannibalism (assuming a "victim" that wasn't opposed to the idea, which would admittably be difficult to find), but I would not participate myself.

2. No. It's no stranger than some of the wierd aspects of our society. We look on it as strange because it's not the same as us - Thus, the meaning of "Strange." :)

3. Yes. I'd find it hard to believe anyone HADN'T. I mean, between cuts on your own lips, etc...

4. No. I'm masochistic, so I can't really see a strangeness in sadism - At least that isn't directly self-destructive!

5. If it occurs naturally in a human being, chances are I don't see it as strange.

1. Brain? No. I find the consumption of brain repulsive. Though it would be cooked, brain consumption is a great way to contract neurological diseases, and thus I would not take part in it. However, I would readily accept a piece of cooked human flesh for trial. I have heard that it is rather good, though I doubt my sources.

2. Cannibalism is not strange at all. Many cultures practice it.

3. Well of course. Could anyone answer 'no' to this question? Have we not all had a punctured lip or a lacerated tongue at some point or another? Of course, I actually rather like the taste, and there was a point where I used to lick any wounds I would recieve, although I now have realized just how bloody septic that is.

4. Sadism is a bit disturbing. To a certain degree it is human nature, but then so is empathy (again to a degree). Generally, I would say that pleasure is naturally taken in the pain of those whom a person dislikes; I doubt that the phrase "wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy" has much truth to it.

5. I would not. Why suppress thyself, as long as what you are doing does not disgust you or get you arrested?

And yes, the topic is strange, that is, in the abnormal sense. Rarely does one spot a thread pertaining to one's standpoint on cannibalism and related topics.

1. Yes, but I'd be hesitant about it.

2.In a sense, yes and no. Since I have never considered that possibility, I would find it strange. However, I understand that cannibalism is a way of life for others and I accept that.

3. Of course, for the same reason the previous two have gave.

4. Yes. I don't appreciate pain being dealt to anyone or anything unless it is truly neccessary.

5. That's a tough one to answer for two reasons. 1. I have never experienced such desires, so I don't know what my viewpoint on it will be unless I ever do. and 2, that question had too many words and it hurt my head.

1. No, unless I were starving.

2. Not at all.

3. Yes.

4. No.

5. I would not suppress such desires. However, before I carried out anything related to them, I would consult any people who might be involved in these actions to see whether they would be as willing (although I would try to keep it from being awkward).
But I wouldn't kill. And I probably wouldn't eat any part of a human either.

I try to stay away from ethical judgments like whether something is "strange," so generally I don't think anything is strange. However, I typically don't do most of those things... yet...

...I do not do nor feel for any of these things, but I do understand them. I have known one incest and one sadist in my life so far, and it is really interesting seeing as to how such feelings develop, and how they may relate to one's personal background.

Actually, I am glad to see most of you have understanding, because certain others see these things in complete abnormality...but really, who is it to say what is normal and what is not - that simply cannot be - each is an individual.

1. Honestly, a human brain doesn't sound appitizing to me. I think I'd politly decline such an offer-- I wouldn't want my brain eaten. However, after death, if somthing happens in that I'd become a zombie or other not-exactly human thing... Well, It'd be like eatin' a crawdad's, wouldn't it? I don't think it's smart to consume what you are-- look at Hoof&Mouth and Mad Cow's desese, both forms of Spungioformosis of certain protenes(like a cancer of protiene). It's perpetuated by cattle feed having remenants of other cows fed to them directly. I think that's God saying "Don't do that, stupid!"

2. Well, in a society where food sources are plentiful, Yes I do. In an area where it is difficult to locate food, I could understand why, but I wouldn't want to-- to say the least!

3. Currently, I have a cut on the inside of my cheek that I got when eating a bean burrito. Currently I am tasting some of it, but I really don't enjoy the taste of it, as it reminds me of getting braces...

4. I honestly do not like to hurt people and feel that getting sexual satisfaction from it a bit twisted... But then again, to each their own.

5. Many of them stem from man's as of yet uncivilized mannerisims, a tribute to the instinctive animalistic natures everyone is born with. I think some of the perversions are from some form of twistedness in the maturing process. I don't have any urge to proticipate in any kind of perversion, but I have met two people who said they enjoyed different forms... One is gay/lesbian, and I also met a woman who said that she didn't mind the site of her dog... I ended that conversation pretty quick and left the store...

As for the unsaid question about the oddity of this question, I wouldn't say it was strange, just taboo for the reason that it's uncomfortable for somone to think about... At least for me.

I seriously thought you were about to warn me or even close the thread, Orgg. I know you are uncomfortable talking about these things, from the many threads that did not survive. :)

Thanks for not shutting this down...

I do not think any of that stuff is twisted. One who is born with instincts for such acts should not be seen as abnormal. If we all were, say, sadists, it would be abnormal to see someone who is not. If incest is a normal thing, then the society will certainly view those whom are not incest as being strange. Like most things, I believe that some things a human cannot control. The way a male look at a female and admires her beauty is completely natural, and most males are born with that "instinct;" it cannot be controlled; then it is safe to say that a homosexual is born that way, therefore such instincts are justified by that matter. Same applies to everything else on the list, to a more or lesser extent. You cannot blame one for the mind one was brought up with. If such things are seen as completely abnormal, and you believe in God, then blame God...

1) Nope.
2) Nope.
3.) Of course.
4.) Nope.
5.) Is there a question in there?

Does anyone else feel that there's waaaaay to much babbiling in this thread?

Strange topic? Not really; everyone asks themselves the last 2 questions at some point.

[Edit: Lol, originally I said, "Everyone asks themselves these questions at some point. " -FoR]

No, it's bad enough that I eat at McDonalds. Sure, it's not healthy, but how am I to know if the Noggin Noodles are tainted with lead, mercury, DDT, Agent Orange, Yellow Nº.5, 6, or non-replublican ideals?

2. Do you think cannibalism is strange? I do not.

Strange, no...not compared to the many levels of strange I've born witness too.

3. Have you, by any means, tasted human blood? I certainly have.

Just today I serrated my gum with a ill-shattered tortilla chip. Didn't taste metallicaly like normal blood, though, cuz I'm anemic and therefore don't have much iron.

4. Do you think sadism is strange? I believe it is one of the human natures.

Sadisim? Your ten-dollar vocabulary words befuddle my disinterested mind. Inquire applying sufficiently lackluster sentences.

Sadism: No need to be labled weird through obvious acts. Innocuous insanity is the fastest path to subverting the populous.
Incestuous: No thanks. I'm to horrible to be alowed to breed; so neither would any siblings of mine, had they come to exist.
Homosexuality: There's a reason it's in the closet in the first place. Be gay in gay friendly areas.
Necrophilia: The ultimate in sefl-centeredness. Noöne likes the idea of you boinkin' Granny.
Cannibalism: Only permissible if no Happy Clown Burgers exist within 50 miles.
Homicide: Just as illegal as hetrocide.

Getting "help" is good, but beware, for sometimes the "helpers" just like to help you give them your money.

No, I'm saying that it is prudent to behave in accordance with the audience.

Going to Def Comedy Jam and yelling "Neg--- suck!" (or a variant) is not a wise action.

Kicking the back of someone's seat on the bus after being asked not to is not a wise action.

Offering a police officer a doughnut after being pulled over is not a wise action.

Going to someone who may not wish to associate with homosexuals and making a large matter of your orientation is not a wise action.

Basicly, you can be whatever you want, but you can't force others to accept you.

Fear not...if I intended to gaybash, it would be either much more or much less subtile.

1. Probably not. Those controls of society that you spoke of has helped me here ;)

2. No, not strange, but again, not exactly "normal", again due to controls.

3. Yes, for most reasons stated by others.

4. No, again like 2.

5. Yes, just because I might have the urges doesn't mean I need to do them.

Do you not think it is ironic that you attempt to insult my vocabulary, when you, somehow, misspell "sadism" for "sadisim"? Additionally, you should have taken your "disinterested mind," and gone on the long search for a disinteresting life...instead of taking the time to reply to such a thread, Mr. Hetemti. :D

Spiderman, if you have a strong urge that is almost beyond control to hurt someone in order to get that certain satisfactory pleasure out of it, I believe you would do it. Believe me, you would. :)

Yeah, I might get pleasure out of it. That doesn't mean it's "right" or that I shouldn't control the urge anyway...

I suppose I am going to get flamed, but I think people need to be careful about confusing curiosity with nature.

What I really wanted to say is that I find it interesting that Duke posted a thread on canibalism when his last big thread was entitled, "Do you have the Guts?..." Does anyone else get the impression he might be scoping out targets??? :D:D:D

I thought we did... in that other thread you(?) started a couple of months ago, about whether one should give in to urges or something (it was talking about beating someone up or something like that).

Spiderman, I am really sorry to say this, but you are really slow these days. What happened to you? The other thread was about beating someone for revenge, or because they make you mad, or offend you. This is about, beating someone for no logic reason - for the simple pleasure of seeing someone in pain. Totally different topics.
