Phyrexia.com has some very strange message boards, thats for sure. We've gotten a few CPA members from there though. That sites had some problems in the past(like when the webmaster went away for a few months last summer, or the time when the entire storyline forum was deleted), and eventually it got so bad that I don't even go to any of the boards other than the storyline board there.

Hmm the guys at phyrexia.com/forums got something against Rasko and Chaos Turtle and something all out against the CPA... Does this vBulletin have an in-built firewall and security. Is it running on say Unix OS or a Win OS? I can go on like this for ages...

Boy... they must have some sort of complex... their site is so butt-ugly they have to destroy good sites to make themselves feel better.:)

I bet CT and Rakso could take 'em in a fight, though. No one beats the turtle!:p

This is a Bad Thing(tm), but I think we'll live. The guy in question (original poster) obviously doesn't have a CLUE what he's doing. But he has some allies who do. I think we'll be ok...

Arrgh. I just saw that Beyond Dominia already got attacked and a bunch of Type One mill got deleted. Wow. Type One Mill is the last remaining stronghold of great T1 discussion on the net, and it should be treasured. Rakso, we're with ya, man! Death to all idiots in this world :mad:

The best defense is not to reply to a spam, if no one has a go at them it is not as fun for them.
As to deleting boards, Ed will just need to back up the boards every couple of days to limit the losses, sorry Ed for the extra work :)

I noted the presence of a bunch of CPA-ers protesting in Phyrexia, too.

To clarify, though, no one from my site spammed them. This guy, Urza216 just started badmouthing BD over there, then one of my regulars who goes by the handle "Puschkin" said a few things in defense. The Phyrexians got the idea to HTML-bomb BD on their own.

However, I think CPA is safe. Those weren't hackers, see. They just abused a bug in Beyond Dominia's program, which is the same as Phyrexia's, so they had some practice.

Incidentally, some people are wondering why the finger was pointed at Phyrexia.com regulars.

For the record, I am somewhat familiar with the atmosphere there, and before Phyrexia.com's last upgrade, they engaged in a long spree of HTML bombing their own posts. What happened is exactly what happened to the Type I Mill.

In addition to this, the first reference to HTML bombing Beyond Dominia was spotted in the threads of Urza216 on Phyrexia.com, a delinquent who was pretty much asked to get out of Beyond Dominia after numerous offensive posts, the last of which involved him saying f*** you to his own posts under an alias.

A Phyrexian who goes by "Pac" was the first to mention bombing Beyond Dominia, and this probably escalated when some regulars (the first being Puschkin) posted on Phyrexia's Second Sphere and explained why Urza216 was practically thrown out.

I later saw drafts of HTML bombs (distinguished as broken posts that begin as "script" or certain links) on some of those threads. These, to the best of my knowledge, have been erased, but I know what I saw.

I reiterate, however, that we have nothing personal against Phyrexia.com, and that we cannot demand that every other Magic forum reflect the intellectual and ethical standards of Beyond Dominia.

I believe that Beyond Dominia is made up of people, not a bunch of random posts, and no amount of HTML bombing can unmake this.

The irony of the situation, to end this on a lighter note, is captured in a conversation I had with Alex Shvartsman, editor of Meridianmagic:

All the links work for me. The dumbest thing is that in one of these threads, someone actually suggests that the other person go to BD. But they can't, because they bombed it.

Sad...

And it's too bad there aren't any real moderators over there... those people wouldn't have any threads left.

Again, sorry to hear about your site, Rakso. Good luck getting everything totally back on track.

Yeah, the only forum there that's actually moderated well is the storyline forum, mainly because that's the only one the webmaster really cares about. The really sad thing is that the sites not as bad as it once was, they had some major HTML "wars" going on there last summer. Now that was annoying.

Believe it or not, the site is pretty much on track.

Even people I never noticed before basically reposted all the decks they were talking about, so the general content of the Mill was pretty much reposted within a day.

If we lost anything, it was archived gag threads, more exotic casual decks, and posts by obnoxious and delinquent nuts that we kept because we had too much fun laughing at them. :)
