How often do you play

Hey all, my dad is laways getting on my case about how im ALWAYS doing something magic related, i get up in the morning, ghet ready for school play magic online before i go to school, during P.E in the locker room i play magic with my friend, after school, i get home, play Magic online, after dinner, i watch t.v while play testing decks, building new ones, and just looking through my cards, once parents fall asleep, i go on Magic Online, k, theres my schedule, take the Poll please.

Now, i was just wondering, do any of you play this much or, when u first started and as still way into itdid u play this much?

I played that much when I first got into the game. And I was a grownup with a job and a wife.

But you might want to do some other things besides play MTG all the time. You risk becoming very boring. Don't let it interfere with your "normal" life (whatever that means to you).

well thats not really all i do, i got the overall MVP award in tackle football at my school, and, i was good on the soccer team at school, me and friends like to play football in the street, and like, go to the chinese resteraunt with hair dye all on our faces and clothes and hair and take our order in german, one time me and 8 other kids split up to get 32 dollars worth of egg rolls, went into the middle of the road and ate them all, so, i do a lot of stupid stupid stuff, but, magic and school definatly take up the majority of my time.

Homestar, I am going to give you the best advice of your life concerning Magic. You need to play way less man. Play sports, work out, listen to jazz music, read Dune by Frank Herbert and then travel the world. When your done, Magic will probably still be here.

ok, the schedule i gave you up there is a little abstract, i work out 45 minutes a day at the YMCA, 30 minutes on the tredmill then some bench presses and all that other good stuff, and, i like to go out and play football with my friends, T'wether it be tackle in the back yard or 2 hand touch in the street. what i am trying to say is that i realize that magic takes up more then most of my time.

EDIT: im also an avid skateboarder and i play guitar a lot

I wouldn't worry to much about it then. Your dad's probably just sick of hearing about it and maybe a little worried (my own Mom kinda freaked back in the 80's when I was playing D&D "too much" and that awful Mazes and Monsters movie came to TV and ruined everything...).

I totally agree with mythosx on at least one point: you should read Frank Herbert's Dune, absolutely.

Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune are worthy reads. If you really like them, God Emperor of Dune is interesting, but definatly different.

Heritics/Chapterhouse of Dune tried to start a new storyline, but was interrupted by death. Read those if you want, but they're not nessissarily the 'same' storyline as Dune/DM/CoD. God Emperor stands alone, and is probably good even w/o the first three...

Magic is fun. Don’t worry bout it.

Read Dune, and don't read any more Dune books. Save your sanity, and patience for other endevors.

Frank Herbet should be raised from the dead only to be shot for killing Leo with that stupid Amazon biatch.

Also read:

Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Probably one of the best sci-fi post apocalyptic books of all time.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott card. Great book. Don't read any of the following books though..they suck. Also stay away from his Homecoming series. Worst books I've ever read in my life.

The Elric Saga By Michael Moorcock (hee hee..Moorcock). Greatest Fantasy book ever written. Screw what's his nuts hobbit books, and all those crappy Dragonlance novels. This is good stuff. Dude marries his cousin, then kills her, and feasts on her soul..... Hmm..little dark but still quality reading. Read all the follow-on books too.

Black Company by Glen Cook. Great book. The Black Company is mercenary outfit, and signs on with the highest bidder, no matter their motives. Excellent read.

ive read enders game, i hated it, dunno why, just did. and actually, i prefer to read the magic books, if that supplys to my addictiveness, i have read all books from invasion up, reading the CHK book now.

"Poker Nation" by Andy Bellin is a good read, especially if you're into the psychology of playing Magic.

As far as the Magic books go, I've probably already said it here, but the old ones are much better than the new ones. They used to have writers make up their own stories that were loosely based around certain cards in the game and they were quite entertaining...

Ashes of the Fallen Sun was a good one, if I remember correctly, and there were others too. They were always amusing at the least. Some of them were actually quite good...

'And Peace Shall Sleep' was another good Magic book.

Homestar-- don't worry if you don't 'get' some of these books we're mentioning... You're twelve(thirteen, now?). You probably do need to branch out a little bit, though... Since you like the Magic books, try the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett(PM for a recommended reading order...), and without doubt the Harry Potter series... it's not ACTUALLY MENT for children. Those are written at the same level as the Magic novels, but are of higher literary quality.

...and avoid the Elric stuff until you're about eighteen. Really!
