Help for a lesser tourney?

I've got an IBC tournament coming soon, just a non-sanctioned one, but the first prize is still a booster box. I've got an idea of what I want to play. It's all for fun so I made it B/U based on Warped Devotion and bounce spells. But I really need help wth a sideboard. Any ideas or help with that and the metagame adjustments? Thanks for any help.

Land (24):
4 Salt Marsh
10 Island
10 Swamp

Creatures (8):
4 Nightscape Familiar
4 Waterspout Elemental (I'm expecting flak from this one...)

Bounce and Discard (20):
4 Warped Devotion
4 Recoil
4 Repulse
4 Rushing River
2 Wash Out
2 Barrin's Spite

Counters (4):
4 Undermine

Draw (4):
4 Fact or Fiction

So, any ideas for a sideboard? More importantly, is the idea going to work? I've tried the deck already, and it can drive a person to near-insanity once it gets going. I've discovered that playing a kickered Waterspout with Warped Devoton n play almost completely negated its inherent Time Walk disadvantage. Usually my opponent has nothing in his hand to cast.

I tried this deck type without much sucsess.
Fast B/R beatdown decks basically killed Me before I could get anything going.
Maybe You'll have better luck though.
I think what I would play I something like B/R beatdown with discard like:

Cavern Harpy
Ravenous Rats
Blazing Specter

With some other discard:
Addle
Bog down

And some Beats accelerators like:
Manical Rage
Sinister Strength

This is what I was playing 0-3

4 Phyrexian Scuta
2 Waterspout Elemental
4 Urborg Emissary

4 Warped Devotion
2 Yawgmoth's Agenda

4 Repulse
2 Distorting Wake
2 Washout
4 Rushing River
4 Recoil

4 Opt
4 Fact or Fiction

8 Swamp
10 Island
4 Salt Marsh

You're not talking about our games yesterday, are you Griffy? :)

To be honest, you almost had me in those two games. If it wasn't for that direct damage spell that did 3 damage, you would have stablized the game and might have come back since I was out of cards in hand. Keep working on it!

I guess the the biggest problem with this deck is surviving the early game. If Your Opponent gets off to a fast start You'll have problems.

As I played I found Myself not having enough available Mana. If there was a way to accelerate mana development... Possibly going with Green as a third color, I don't know, it just seems to be to Mana intense. For example I had Multiple Fact or Fiction's in hand but couldn't afford to cast them cus I needed to keep from getting killed instead of drawing more cards.

On the other hand maybe I'm just not playing properly.

Consistency is good, and I think the B/R beatdown deck is more consistent.

Personally I don`t think your dekc is going to work very well, sorry. But you did say it was all for fun.

The most important advice would be that you have to find a kill method that your opponent cannot easily kill as Terminate will be everywhere and doesn`t care how big your guys are.

I`d have to agree with Griffith - if their decks are any good, they`ll pound you easily. I`d go UBR control or BR beatings with Mages Contests.

As bad as this deck seems it actually works better, I guess it's because this one has some cheap pawn's that keep You in the game long enough to gain control of the board with the Bounce/Warped Devotion combo.

I Guess what I'm saying is that (from what I've found) Warped Devotion is more of a bonus card, and not really that good as far as the main card to build around (I could be totally wrong).

It will be real interesting to see if this deck type makes a good showing in Tourneys, I know a lot of people are trying.

Monsters 18
4 Stormscape Apprentice
4 Tidal Visionary
3 Galina's Knight
4 Vodalian Zombie
1 Waterspout Elemental
1 Dromar, the Banisher

Combo Hunting 7
4 Diabolic Intent
4 Fact or Fiction

The Combo Stuff 13
2 Warped Devotion
4 Rushing River
4 Recoil
3 Wash Out

9 Island
3 Plains
4 Dromar's Cavern
6 Swamp

PJ,

Just wondering, did You play the Warped devotion deck?
If so, how did it do?
I still like this deck type, and I'm still tinkering with it, but don't have much time to play test.

Not a great deck to win tournaments with but a hella FUN deck to annoy your opponents with (especially if they're 'Hotheads' about being stalled with stupid decks :)).
I really don't think this deck has a place in IBC, however, I do enjoy playing with and just wanted to offer others to pick and poke at it, who knows, maybe someone can build a viable deck from this thing ;).

Sorry, I did forget to post the results.

Well, like I said, it was a casual tournament, so I actually performed pretty OK. Yes, I did enter the UB mega-bounce deck type into the tourney, though slghtly modified. I altered it to contain 4 Lobotomy. And it worked. Not always, but it worked. I noticed that waiting till you had used Lobotomy on the Terminates kept your Elementals around much, much longer.

The local casual tourney metagame used three major archtypes: Fires, UB discard, and BR aggression. The scene didn't have that many true professionals, so the powerful rares were in short order. Y'know, like BR decks wth only 2 Rages and 2 Blazing Specters.

I probably had one of the cheapest decks there. I definitely had THE most annoying deck type, too. There were only 5 of us who were using UB mega-bounce, and we were the most hated players in the tournament. I had opponents conceding once their hands were empty, even without my win condition on board.

I managed a top 8 finish, but that's about it. I lost to a BR deck in the quarterfinal, because I decked myself in the third match. :p

I can only say one thing about the deck: it's FUN. It's a blast. It exasperates serious people, and that alone is enough for me. It lacks efficiency (read: Dark Ritual) to win regularly against really well-tuned aggressive decks, but if you just want some laughs, this deck will do you fine.
