on a side note, Magic Online has taken a turn for the worse recently in my mind, they are adding add'l resources, but not fast enough for me, lag is insane now. When we started with only scores of people on at a time (usually 80 or so) it wasn't bad, but now there are usually hundreds of people on and the lag is incredible. They are working to add more servers to the farm, but haven't had much luck yet imho.

Keep in mind, this is a beta test. Obviously, one of the purposes of the testing is a stress test. Yeah, there is some serious lag. Have you tried the Team Sealed? They have yet to get it right and it is really hard to set up the building with everyone able to access the cards, let alone stay connected. Lag is even worse when trying to do that.

But that's to be expected. They are trying to determine what types of resources they need. Obviously, they realize that the product is failing the stress test with the number of users they have. they will add additional resources and things will stabilize. However, right now, is lag the only issue? No, people are getting bumped. If they don't figure out what is causing that before upgrading the servers, they may never figure it out. That's a whole I would like patched and I'm willing to suffer through a bit of lag to see it happen.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that now that it has opened up into beta test, expect it to get worse before it gets better. But once it gets better, expect it to stay better...

Oh, I realize it is beta testing, and this isn't the first or last time I'll be involved in testing. It is not much fun however to lose games with the server drops, and trying to maintain a conversation is an exercise in futility lately. It seemed to be getting better earlier, then the server died again.

I have full expectations that this hurdle will be put behind them in time, I just hope it is sooner rather than later. :)

If this is an open beta, it seems they should have done some research and have some projections on how many people would participate (especially since it's free). Either they grossly underestimated the number of potential participants or are having trouble getting the resources needed. Stress test or not...

Actually, although the beta is free and open to anyone who can get their hands on the updater/disc, WotC and Leaping Lizard have strict control over the number of accounts. You sign up for them via the WotC Store, and there are a limited number of them available.

I'm confident that they know exactly what they are doing. Well, pretty much, anyway. ;)

If so, everything I've been doing has been for nothing. :(

I was at 100%. I had gotten lucky enough to salvage my download after getting disconnected. I was downloading fine until I hit altms.dll.

404 error. Wasn't on the server.

DAMN YOU, WOTC! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!

Well, yes. Realize that it's almost impossible for me to get a game of Magic these days. So this would be my major outlet for Magic.
