Have you ever gotten that feeling...

That some force is against you?

I just picked up 2 packs from 2 different boxes (probably my mistake there) and I pulled the same rare out of each one... a Thundermare...

What is the odds of that? Has this ever happened to you guys? I just finally got rid of the last one I had....

I remember when Weatherlight first came out and they were one of the "better" cards in the set.

When Weatherlights was out, I was picking up packs for $1.50 to $2.50 a piece... Weatherlights packs for $1 a piece.

Oh... well... d***... now I feel old.

Yeah, back when Planeshift was new, I got three boosters out of the same box and both had Deadapult as the rare. I think I also picked up a third booster with something else though...

I don't intend to spend money on boosters (ever since I got Sheltering Prayers as my rare, I've been hesistant to open up a pack and see a crap rare) again though, so I guess I don't need to worry about this.

when you get two of the same rares from one box, don't you start to wonder if someones been emptying boxes into one another, sorting, or something?

I figure that was probably the case, but I just chalked it up to bad luck. I've always had terrible luck with booster packs, except in booster drafts (which I have almost never played, for some reason).

I think it's just bad luck. You can probably find a million people who have bought booster boxes and have opened them all to find several duplicate rares (me included).

Based on the results of my more recently purchased boxes, it is pretty much a guarantee that I am going to get at least 2 duplicate rares. The big sets (Mirrodin, Champions) I'll get few dupes, but in the smaller sets (Saviors) I'll get 4+.

I did a 9th draft. Got that planeshift zombie guy, a Serra, and another planeshift zombie guy.

The nature of probability dictates that, every so often, the very unusual thing not only can, but MUST happen.

I have opened a box and not gotten a foil rare in it. There's only a 10% chance of that happening, but it DOES happen...

Nature of probability? Pfft! Isty, you must know the ruling force of the universe is Murphy's Law.

Every time I get a box, I end up with multiples of some blue rare that I don't want and I can't trade. The same thing tends to happen in uncommons. Even when I want to try out blue, I still get the blue stuff I hate. And speaking of the universe being against you, I needed to buy 2 boxes and two fat packs before I had 5 Sleight of Hands. I was stuck at 2, then 3, and finally with the second box, got the playset plus one. What the hell is with that!? A mere common and I got a handful! Not even a good one, just one I wanted to try out, and because of it, the universe spat in my general direction.

I'm sure others have similar stories. The universe is against us all, and Magic is merely its right hand.

The last box I bought, I think Mirrodin, I didn't get full playsets of all the commons. Maybe expecting full playsets of ALL the commons was too much, but I did get only 1 or none of certain commons.

But you couldn't find anyone to give/trade you the extra Sleight of Hands?

Eh... I'd at least dump over my less cherished c/u's if someone needed'em...

I mean... come on... what are we going to do with a bunch of cards we'll just stuff in boxes and leave in our closets?

Oh hell... that reminds me that I've gotta put together some peasant decks and give'em away.
