I got 2 fat packs of judgement for 20.00!!!...

That's 1.66 per pack of cards plus everything else...

Yes. Go ahead and put your local gaming store out of business (unless there isn't one near you in which case you can ignore this part of the post).

There is a Hastings nearby but I usually only go there when Software Etc. is sold out of a game and I absolutely cannot wait to play it (ie, GTA: Vice City, Metroid Prime, and NHL 2K3).

Like I said, go ahead and buy your cards somewhere else and let your local gaming store wither and die (unless there isn't one near you in which case you can ignore this part of the post). It's not important that you support your local gaming stores; someone else will do it for you. Or you can hope that the money fairy comes by every now and then and magically fills the cash registers.

How is buying clearance items on sale hurting your regular gaming store? And if your local gaming store isn't offering such items, do they deserve to be supported? They certainly aren't supporting you...

I can see your point about regular packs being undercut, but sales?

However, I don't even know what a "Hastings" is so perhaps I'm just shooting the bull here...

I think Hastings is like a SamGoody in your area Spidey... or is it FYE?...

Basically it's a big music,movie, book retail store with little novelties such as figurines of all types and cards and what-nots...

My point is... I buy everything from my gaming shops, unless it is much cheaper elsewhere...

I won't stoop for 30 cents... but when a game shop pack is 3.29 and this avergae is 1.66 - I'm going to ge tmy money's worth...

Heck - the shop could even go buy them and turn it around and make profit for themselves... But they got to beat me to 'em...

Hmm, probably more like an FYE, except that's usually just music and videos except for at one mall, where it has a small selection of computer games. I haven't seen any cards there though.

We have one shop at a mall that sells packs for $3.29 - and this is the same mall where a WOTC store is in

Yes, you will get a better deal when you buy cards more cheaply.
It's a problem when card shops go under though because non-card shops (especially general entertainment stores) are generally less accepting of gamers than the shops are. Say all you want to the contrary (although I doubt it will be much). Gaming communities do better when there is an outlet for the many people who are interested in the games but lack a community of friends outside of the stores.

Now, train, if as you say you buy everything from your gaming shops, we aren't berating you personally...
It's just that other people (me included) may not spend too much money on gaming, and the more those people go to gaming stores and not to entertainment stores, the better for the gaming community.

I can either buy from Babbages or a local comix store called Crash. Since Crash tries to rip you in at anything you purchase there... I usually go to babbages. On the other hand, I did trade a few cards for a judgement box... not a bad trade on my part... just a fork, 2 armageddons, a two headed dragon,and some crap rares... Say train, get anything good in the packs?

I'm not really sure not being in the business, but a gaming shop is probably geared towards other games, such as Warhammer and D&D, to name a couple. It's probably not all about Magic and so can draw a more diversified range of players to help support it.

I'm not saying that they should be charging higher prices for packs and you blindly support them, but they might have singles that you can get anywhere else (if you don't have the Net).

My options are to buy from someone because they're the only game shop in town and don't have to lower prices, or get the best deal possible... which is usually waiting until we drive 90 miles away and purchase packs at a gaming shop who sells them for 2.31 a pack due to competition...

To me: I'm helping a store survive...(in another town) and I have only played at the local shop 2 times in the last 8 months... so going 90 miles away for a good deal and great charactered people is worth it...

But I'm definitely going to get the best deal possible for cardboard i love to play with...
