They won't be "bent-up" (unless something happens in the mail), but "crappy" is in the eye of the beholder. I'd just be sending you extra stuff that I have; you can do what you want with it :) Play or throw away or give away, whatever.

Hey now, Homestar, I wasn't trying to give you grounds to give your parents crap. If they were really apathetic they'd be letting you do whatever you want - Ironic, yes? It's just that any new social phenomenon is usually misunderstood by any parent. When I was growing up I had to deal with the fact that I was the first generation to grow up with video games. Because of this, video games have long been seen as "kid stuff" - but now that the video game generation is all grown up, video games are taken must more seriously in our society, though still not as seriously as the will be taken 30 years from now. CCGs are the phenomenon for your generation. It's a new and weird thing to your parents, and CCGs are often seen as "kid stuff" even though I think they are quite the opposite. 40 years from now they won't have the "youngness stigma" they do today. It's just the way of things. I'm sure when I have kids they'll be messing around with hyper-blingwads or something and I'll think they are just the stupidest thing ever.

Anyway, to answer your questions about the cards, I used a program called Magic Set Editor, then I just took screen shots of stuff from the Homestar Website. No I haven't turned them into real life cards.

thanks Chaos. and Rooser i got it, i downloaded that thing. how did u make it into a URL so u could post it like that? and spidey thats my point exactly. i keep showing him my decks and telling him how crapy some cards are that i actually play with. for instance, i have a tanglebloom in my deck, my green deck. and plus, not all cards are AWESOME but some cards just work well with other cards. like tribal decks for instance, i have a cleric deck and i have some crappy clerics that work good in that deck. these are all concepts i try explaining to him but he doesnt even care about a word of what i say. o and rooser, there are 2 things i dont get about the card editor thingy. number 1, how did u get ur name down by the artist symbol and how did u even make the paintbrush thingy. mine look all old-school and say By:Twan Van Laarhoven. the other thing is well, there isnt another thing but o well. ill try to clear the whole card thing up the best i can with them. and where did u get those screen shots? those are from the "a jorb well done" toon and i cant like stop the video and copy and paste so how did u get those?

It's a lot of questions, Hamstray.

Okay, for capturing screen shots, there should be a button labeled "print screen" somewhere on your keyboard. All you gotta do is hit that button. When you do, it will seem like nothing happened, but then if you go into Paint and hit "Paste" an image of the whole screen will show up and you can edit the image as you like.

There is one singular answer for all of your questions regarding Set Editor, and that's to just go to the Edit menu and select "Set Options." Just about everything you asked about is in there.

As for your parents, I think you have two options. One is to just forget it. It sucks, it's not fair, but badgering your parents isn't exactly nice either. Or, you can go for one last big score and use the following rationale, (Note, this will only work if your parents are Christian though):

Ask your father why he has such a hard time believing that somebody out there wants to do a nice thing and ask nothing in return. Compare the situation to the life of Jesus, saying that all Jesus wanted to do was make the world a better place, but nobody trusted him because he seemed "too good to be true" and so he got crucified. Argue that it doesn't make sense for somebody to deny themselves a genuine act of generosity.

PS: And yes, what I just said does suggest that Spidey and Train are Christ figures. May I never live it down.

I agree, some things are not worth fighting for and while it's nice to get cards for free, there's always more in a couple of years.

how did u make it into a URL so u could post it like that?
Just copy the link in the address bar of your browser and paste it in the post. Or do [*url] <address> [*/url] (without the *)

alrighty that basically answered all of my questions. i might have to try that "why is it so bad that someone is trying to do something nice without n e thing in return".
