Halloween Pirate Party 2025 [EDH]

My Halloween deck themes have probably been hit-or-miss, but this one was a deliberate reference that now seems a bit awkward. To understand the reference, understand that my family, for reasons I still don't understand myself, had a planned pirate-themed party for Halloween of this year. Also, this was not a recent plan. I first heard about it several months ago and it had already been planned well before then. It turned out that the party was postponed for next year, but by then I'd already started building this deck. And I wasn't about to get the cancellation of a party to interfere with my journey of building EDH decks helmed by every legendary creature from *Legends*. So here we are. The deck is just blue/black pirates. That's pretty much it. Is it really Halloween-themed? I do not know. I am obliged to run All Hallow's Eve. So there's that. Look, I paid like $30 to get the card "Pirated Copy" just for this deck. So I'm totally committed or something.

Well, I got a flat tire on Monday (for the second time in two months), so I didn't go to the LGS that hold Commander open play on Tuesdays. But I did get to play this deck on Wednesday.

My pirates dished out damage to all three opponents and started to become outclassed. I set up All Hallow's Eve with Damnation and managed to deploy Forerunner of the Coalition onto an empty board. With Pirated Copy entering as a copy of the Forerunner, I caused my opponents all to lose 16 life. That didn't kill anyone, but it lowered life totals and made me the big threat at the table. I dished out more damage, opponents rebuilt, killed several of my pirates, and I baited a bit more of that, then cast Living Death. Forerunner triggers killed two opponents and I was able to finish the last one off.

So yeah, I piloted this deck to victory two days before Halloween. Success.
