Not only those things, Jigglypuff, but I also have to deal with posers like you.
<crowd: oooooooooh!!!!>
let me tell you, it's a drag being an omnipotent deity worshipped by billions. I tell you, with all those people praying at me constantly, I can never get any sleep! And they keep on sayign that I tell them things, and that they speak to me... sheesh, like I have the time for a few insignificant flesh things! I'd smite them, but I'm too busy workign on the Earth mark 7, a real good start let me tell you, I've nearly got the whole "thou shalt not kill" thing wired into my new Human version 9.2 (that commandment thing was a disaster!), and the Garden of Eatin' prototype looks a lot better (and tastier!) than the old, grungy "Eden" thing. I mean, who needs a dirty snake to tempt you if you've got freakin' chocolate bars growing on the trees?
Anyway, I've got things to let there be, people to screw around with, so if you don't mind... <disappears in a cloud of ninja smoke>

Why am I always associated w/ that guy? I'm here to punish the wicked - not ENDORSE them!"
Well, punish would be the ultimate agenda, but that obviously drives off a lot of people if they knew about it beforehand, so he wants to make it look like a party place... kinda like being ranked in Playboy's Top Ten :p

On a more serious note, I think both God and Christ are pretty pissed off about all of these violent things people are doing in their name. Wasn't Jesus supposed to be the Prince of Peace?

I'm usually there when they shoot the Playboy top ten each year... Something needs to keep them drugged up so they don't realize their clothes are off!!!...

Why do you think they always look so in love with the camera... They think it Mr. Xarvox!!!

As a matter of fact he was. He also didn't like the idea of people crowding into Temple to have religion rammed down their throats. He thought that The Almighty was something to be celebratedl not mindlessly followed. He liked the idea of Universal Brotherhood - not biggotry and hatred. He welcomed other religions - not condemning them.

Why couldn't his most vocal "servants" listen to his message?

Well, I would say that initially he did have some ingrained Jewish problems when dealing with non-Jews, like that woman he refused to help when her child was sick/dying/dead/possessed (can't remember the exact ailment). It was only due to her persistence that he gave in and said "Your faith has made your daughter well" (or maybe it was herself, dang memory!).

But yes, in the end, he came through. There was just that initial hesitance; it wasn't like he was welcoming everyone with open arms right off the bat.

Hi Zelda... Gospel of St. Thomas goes along well with what Ferret was mentioning...

I completely understand where you're coming from - but I had to take a mortal/objective look at the situation, and I believe it deals with acceptance. He did the same with the Leper - what probably happened is that in being human/mortal - Jesus needed some way to show these people who he was, they weren't listening to start off with... If you notice, the stories of the bible mention his miracles, but deal more with his teachings... He was not put on earth to heal anyone... he was there to present the gift(himself) and spread the word of God... Healing people just became something to establish who he was, that may be why he was reluctant to do it the first time - he wasn't supposed to...

I'm actually taking this from a partially remembered sermon from the past couple of months....

I think he was actually more tired and "not in the mood" than not trying to heal. As I recall, this incidence happened when he was in a Gentile place while trying to rest after a particularly grueling time of traveling and teaching/preaching. He really just wanted to be left alone and was in fact surprised that a Gentile recognized him.

Jesus never "healed" anyone. It was faith that did that. Yes, Jesus held the authority of his Father, through which that faith was directed.

Case in point, the woman who crawled through the crowd to touch Jesus's robes. She was convinced that if she could only touch his robe, she would be healed. Jesuses words were something to the effect of, "...some grace has gone out of me." He made a point on saying that it wasn't his robes that had anything special, but the faith of the woman.

He was "sent" by his father to administer to the house of Israel, specifically the house of Juda since the remaining tribes were scattered. He instructed his disciples to preach to the Gentiles.

However, when was reluctant to help the Gentile woman, it was probably more as a test of her faith than anything else.

When posts go off track, is it possible for an admin to divert the portion that sent it off track into its own post?

BTW: "Your faith (in God) has made you healed". Faith is power, mainly because it is worry-free assurance and acceptance of God's grace and His power to heal.

Yes. I'll do it if someone wants to tell me where to split the thread. :)

Obviously this has different interpretations, but I think my pastor was making the point that it was actually a test for Jesus and that he was not only limited to "teach" Israel, but everyone.

Yes, faith has the power to heal, just like a placebo. The God doesn't necessarily have to exist for you to have faith in it. This may or may not be a good thing.

Well, yes, looking from the outside in, but that's not the basis of the whole religious tangent. We're already assuming God and Jesus exist and were questioning whether Jesus had open arms for everyone or if he still had human prejudices in him that would cause him not to initially help someone.

seizures are bad dude...

i hate to be serious in the off topic forum, but last year my mom's friend's son had a siezure...he was in the tub and drowned to death.

her life sucks now and she is having a mid-life crisis, and is trying to move her poor husband paul (who just got laid off and had knee surgury) to arizona so they can live next to their friends who were forced to mmove out of the state to protect HIS daughter from her mom which has post traumatic stress syndrome.

on the otherhand ny sister got pregnant, and moved to the other side of the country in a witness protection program against her ex-bf who is now being released from jail. she's bi-polar, just had a kid and is living in a shelter, and i'm the only one in the family she will talk to because no one else gives a **** about her but my dad but he's just a big oinkhole when he talks to her. the baby is maned after me though, i'm uncle matt now.

my life sucks and siezures are bad

and hello again everyone

That sucks like the third most suck I can currently imagine. Your sister sounds a lot like mine would be if my parents weren't extremely monetarily supportive of her.

yeah the only thing my sister got was help on a couple car payments and put on their insurance plan for a year... helps but when your bi-polar and have been traumatized... there's better ways to help.

all you can do is look past things and take care of your own stuff. which i'm having a hard time doing right now. oh well.

by the way...it seems since i've been away there has been a new smilie added
