Get Hardcore with Elf-Core

I first faced this deck playing my Saproling deck. At first, I figured his deck to be a "Sunshine" deck, using artifact mana and Elves to plug damage into X-spells and artifacts. When he started taking 5 minutes for his turn (he never idled once, not even for 5 seconds), I thought something was up. When he laid down a Masticore and dusted my creatures, I finally caught on.

Here's my Type 1.5 version of the "ElfCore" deck I faced. So far, it's gone 5:1 on Apprentice. It's not Extended-legal, due to Fyndhorn Elves (That can be replaced, but the Concordant Crossroads lost in March is a bigger problem).

4 Elvish Pioneer
4 Fyndhorn Elves
4 Fyndhorn Elder
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Multani's Acolyte
4 Priest of Titania
3 Collective Unconscious
3 Concordant Crossroads
4 Creeping Mold
3 Recycle
3 Masticore
2 Gaea's Cradle
18 Forest

This deck is extremely effective, gaining massive amounts of mana with the elves, burning through the deck with Unconsiouses and Recycles, then plugging in the mana to the Masticore to eliminate any creatures on the table. Attack with everything on the next turn when your opponent is defenseless.

Again, I just don't see how i can get away from mentioning this...

COAT OF ARMS...

that's my 2 cents... well, maybe 1.5 cents...

Actually, Train, you're not the first person to mention Coat for this deck (You did firstly, but other people have since). Some others have also mentioned Elvish Champion. Personally, I'd add some Overruns, taking out some of the Acolytes & Masticores. Staring a pack of 12, or 15, maybe 20 4/4 Trampling Elves in the face is something no one should experience...except for the opponent. :D

I'd just run the kamahl fist of krosa then... Playing his ability is just awesome...

Instant overruns... and more fun when your opponent gets run over by your lands...

Let the Mad Fistings begin...

I like that...Priest of Titania to turn must/all of your lands into creatures, attack with everything, Insta-"Overrun" with either another Priest or a Gaea's Cradle. You may be onto something, Train. Kudos, again!

My elf deck is way cooler than yours. I just play Biorhythm for the win :)

Biorythm doesn't actually win though... do you get rid of their creatures or something?...

I think he means using Biorhythm to lower their lifetotal substantially. With the amounts of elves on the table, your life total would be substantial, while the opponents' creatures should be minimal to non-existant, especially if the Masticore used it's pinging ability. Then, attacking with all of the elves, not all of then could be blocked, eliminating the opponent.

A useful card, but a bit expensive (though with Priests & Cradles with about 10 Elves on the table, it wouldn't be hard to pay). I rather prefer the assault approach with Overrun, because against another weenie, Biorhythm might not guarantee victory. Neither might an Overrun, but against another weenie, you have a better chance if they take 1, 2, or 3 trample damage from every creature you have instead of one or two damage from the ones that slipped through.

I think the important thing out there with biorythm is the wrath, rotlung reanimator trick... but that's 3 colors and out of tons of tries - I've only pulled it off twice...
