Funny play of the night ...

Got together with my local group last night ...

We were playing playing 2-headed giant. My teammate had a Seedborn Muse out, Aggravated Assault, and lots of mana. I told him to attack, he did, then I cast Sylvan Might on it, flashed it back, then cast Vigorous Charge w/ kicker.

End result --> he attacked four times with a 6/8 spirit linked & trampling seedborn muse. We gained 24 life, opposing team lost 24 life. Net change of 48 life.

It was a bizarre interaction of our decks, considering that my Sylvan Mights and Vigorous Charges were intented to be used on the Serra Avatars in my own deck.

Huh? oh, how unreal...

Try killing off players every game with a drain life. It gets boring.

Hey don't take all the credit, that first Sylvan Might was my idea. :D

That was quite the satisfying play, especially b/c the turn before THEIR 2 decks comboed to give them 35 life (1 person Memory Jar'ed, the other Words of Worshipped the whole thing) to seeminly make our lives very difficult

And Whipgrass Entangler is annoyingly effective.

You know,...Whipgrass Entangler seems like a pretty good
casual/FFA card. What did the deck look like? I've thinking about
a Cleric Tribe and thought the deck might give me some much
needed inspiration.

Words/Jar is a pretty good casual combo.:D

Seedborn is great. ..Man, I really like that card. Holding back
on some of that MM tech, are we. :)

the entangler is really a great card if you can hold off big baddies with it. But with Scourge, who knows what will be the whole new thing.

I do get the feeling that mr. entangler will become obsolete in the case of upwelling though :(

This is the oinking Cleric Deck as my friends call it.

it doesn't fall exactly into your tribal rules, but could be adapted I'm sure.

The Clerics
4x Order of Leitbur
4x Soul Warden
4x Cabal Archon
3x False Prophet (only own 3)
2x Rotlung Reanimator (only own 2)
2x Crimson Acolyte
2x Aven Redeemer (flying +prevention)
2x Doubtless One (should be 3-4, but I was trying to keep it "fun")
1x Master Apothecary (again, only own 1)
1x Starlight Invoker (weak, but flavor)
1x Beacon of Destiny (see SI)
1x Orim, Samite Healer (flavor)
1x Glowrider (flavor)
1x Celestial Gatekeeper (flies and returns up to two clerics... into play. If I owned 2, I would play 2, but no more.)

Support
4x Misery charm (a must have)
3x Starlit Sanctum (not as needy and only gives colorless mana. However it is very effective with a big Doubtless one.)

Non Tribal
3x Retribution of the Meek (I pulled one)

Land
13x Plains
6x Swamp
2x Tainted Field (should be Scrublands I don't own)

My whole point is to sac my clerics to do damage to opponent and use False Prophet when I fall behind.

Other White cards which would do well are the standards.... Disenchant will be added, swords, Afterlife, and Balance would work well too. I used to run Order of the Ebon Hand, but then I tried cutting back on the 2 Black spells to help mana curve since I lack the duals. Also Mother of Runes is a great cleric but I have them in a different deck.

Black removal would help too.
When it loses, it loses to evasion creatures, at least in my casual group.

The one in our group splashed black for Dark Supplicant and Scion of Darkness.

It also ran the 'Clerics don't tap to attack guy' who was really effective when comboed with Master Apothecary.

Looking at BigBlue's decklist, I'm surprised he isn't running Cabal Archon's and the Cleric Land. I suppose I'm required to remind him that Soul Warden is a Cleric as well .

Seedborn is great. ..Man, I really like that card. Holding back
No no, I'm not holding back tech. That was the R/G Ping-Muse deck listed in these forums. It is vulnerable as all hell, but man is it fun to play - and it has worked pretty well the last few games.

I didn't own any Scions.... now I have 2. The sac lands work really well with the Doubtless ones... attack for a lot, then sac it to have them lose life = power.

that's generally been the kill.

Yeah, I decided to crawl out from under my rock and face the world again. I'm trying my best to avoid the political forums though. :)

Why not just Armadillo Cloak your Serra Avatar? I've killed 4 people in a multiplayer game with 4 successful swings of an Armadillo Cloaked Serra Avatar starting on turn 5.

The cloak does seem like a good choice, but there's no surprise factor in it. As soon as it lands on the Avatar, it screams "Kill me!". Plus, it can be disenchanted. I like the Vigorous Charge and the Sylvan Might for the surprise factor. Plus you get a two-for-one deal with the Sylvan Might. Most of my play is in 2-headed giant games. There's mucho critter-elim in the meta game as well. That being said, I figure I'm only getting one swing with it anyway.

the sorry thing about Serra Avatar is that your opponent have to remove it from the game to ensure its destruction...
