For those of you who Ebay...

I've got a question for my fellow CPA nerdlings who frequent Ebay. Have any of you noticed that, extended and Type 1 power cards have DRAMATICALLY increased in price over the last year or so? I mean not too long ago I was trying to get four Illusionary Masks for under 35 dollars each..now they're going for 100 bucks a pop! I think the reason is due to the dramatic upswing in Type 1 and Extended love running around the net. Back in 2002 Rasco was more or less the sole voice of the Type 1 crowd. Now every clown with a Morphling is getting posted at Starcitygames. This really irks me....! I want my powerful old stuff for cheap again!

Anyone else out there feel my pain?

Rakso helped, but don't forget that when people play Iron Man, the populations of these old, and therefore very limited run, cards contracts much faster than they would otherwise. And also, over time more and more get sealed in lucite for the Mantle Worshipers to drool over. That means lower supply, higher demand, and emptier pockets.

Hey, I frequent the T1 atmosphere. What I would really like to see is a nice goofball deck winning a tourney sometimes.

Its all Rasko's fault. And now the metagame will get tougher once he writes about that Rhinos/Stormseeker unstopable combo.

they are higher - but my opinion on it is that it's because WoTC actually supported a type I tourney at a major convention... Basically the worlds of type 1 - otherwise there wouldn't be such high prices for casual cards - it's always the tourney cards that rake in the high prices...;)

I don't see what the Good Reverend is up in a bunch about. Instead of getting the mask he can just play morph creatures if he likes face-down cards.

Geez, T1 isn't all that hard. All the skill is in the coin flip to see who goes first...

And who's deck is the most controversial. ;)

Who needs a large bank account and breath to gag a maggot when you can simply build a deck that costs under $20 and beat the pants off that loser?

Death over playtime.

Don't you read rakso's articles? I don't know how often it is, but 2 out of three times when he's posted a game with The Deck, he usually wins whether he goes first or not...

I think SeFRo was alluding to the physical, dexterity skill...;)

and for Grayson - I would like to mention that "The Deck" is a toolbox deck!...

My girlfriend just called me to say she got a phone call about a $5,000 TV she was supposedly selling and how the guy can pay for it.

Turns out she responded to one of those bogus "Give us your ebay password" e-mails. Gave her password - which (of course) was identical to her personal e-mail password, and this douche bag (sorry, I'm tweaked right now) proceeded to...

Sell 2 TVs totalling $7,000 on her ebay account
Leave her with a $143 sellers fee
Actually got on her e-mail to reply to bidder questions
Set up an account with a European on-line escrow service to receive the funds.

THANK GOD that neither of the winning bidders has paid yet, so she should not be on the hook. I have since changed both passwords to complex alphanumeric combinations to avoid this for the future.

Needless to say, I'm a completely f-ing fuming, jittery mess right now, and I feel bad b/c I totally ripped her head off for using the same (simple) password for information sensitive sites.

*Deep breaths*

My first question is whether or not oyu've apologized to her...

if so then report it to your FBI asap, and hopefully the computer records have not been lost as to the phone record...

I'd also notify eBay if you haven't already...

I would more "educate" your girlfriend into not responding to ANY spam mail or emails that ask for passwords, credit card info, etc.... check www.snopes.com (I'm sure there's others, but that's my favorite site) - they have a section on this kind of stuff and you can provide her with a link to double-check any emails to see if they're on the list if she has any questions. General rule of thumb though for major sites like eBay and Amazon is that they will NEVER ask for your password or credit card info or sensitive info from an email "solicitation"; in fact, either because of this episode or a previous one, they no longer provide links in their emails even if they would be legit problems. They always ask you to go to the site and log on your account there.

Yeah Train, I pretty much immediately apologized as my response freaked her out...needed to go into damage control mode, so I did and she was placated. We had a (rational and calm) discussion last night as to why you can't use the same password for multiple locations.

I've contacted eBay, and they did get back to us this morning. I considered contacting the FBI, but I figured I'd talk with the eBay 'Live Help' first since if anyone was recording IP addresses it was them.

Both winner bidders got in touch with me already, and know not to pay. So far the crisis appears mostly averted.

I've e-mailed her the link to snopes.com Spidey, thanks it should help.

Speaking of which, I never got a confirmation from you. You were going to get back to me b/c you didn't have that Skyhunter foil. I'm still down with trade, I just don't know the details.

Yeah... I'm going to send the cards out, with a list of my preference order from the list you provided, and let you decide which ones are worth the deal...

you know me - never picky...
