Eh not a less than fan really. And No Doubt used to be ska, 2nd wave to be technical. they were right around the ranks of Gold Finger and Sublime during the mid 90's. Those were the good ole' days.

I highly recomend Goldfinger to any fan of Ska.

how would hubastank fit in to all of this? I think they sound pretty good, definently not SKA but still fresh.

They're mostly what you would call commercial punk. That's the kind of stuff i'm into so, well, what ever floats your boat. Creams your Twinky, Plumps your Ball park.

What is emo? I never heard the term before until yesterday, when I saw this post, and then today when somebody else mentioned it.

Would Weezer count as any of those?

I like Weezer. All the members are nerds.

I've heard of Hoobastank, but I'm not an expert on this subject, so I dont know if they are punk, ska, or emo.

Apollo, emo is the technical term for pop-punk. EX Blink 182, Green Day, MXPX. I myself do not consider them to be real punk bands, but some do thus I included it on the list of entires. Bob, I do not thnk Weezer is punk. I would say, alterna-hard-radioair-rock.

Blink 182 is not punk rock, but they are Comercial punk
They don't have the raw edge that a Punk band should have, but they have a smooth quality that flows.

Green Day unless I'm wrong, is alternative. They used to to be a Puink Rock band but after their album Dookie, they went alternative.

MxPx being from the town that I live in, are definently Punk at a live show, but all their albums come out kinda soft. I prefer the "yelling songs" that appear from time to time.

American Hi-Fi Again I would say Comercial punk or alternative. They have some meaty songs but lack the raw edge and pressence.

A New Found Glory A personal liking of mine. definently alternative. They remind me of "Nimrod era" Green Day. They have a Ska aspect to them.

Gold Finger A good band as well. I especially like their song "Superman." Pyro Monkey told me about them and I downloaded a few of their songs. Good Ska band.

Those are my favorite bands. I'm kind of touching on everything close to Punk but not directly on it.

I also want to give props to an older band, Steve Miller Band. I like their song called "Gangster of Love."

Blink - Nope, dont even come close to punk in my standards.

MXPX - Another pop-puk band in my eyes.

American Hi-Fi? Hmmm, I really dont even consider them to be mentioned in a punk poll.

NFG - Again, some pop-punk material.

Goldfinger - Very good ska band. Best song? The City W/ Two Faces. Download that, but not to loud if your parents are not fond of profanity.

This friend of mine thought that she was a big punk fan...but realisticlly she listens to Blink kinda stuff. I had her download Sex Pistols, and she didnt even classify them as punk!

I relize that has little relevance here, it bothers me just the same...

Shame on her. Give her a royal displeasing smirk for me will you? If you don't like the Sex Pistols, let alone classify them as punk, then you should be ashamed! Tisk tisk tisk, what is this world coming to?

I hate myself for saying that about American Hi-fi. It was late. Shame on me *spanks me*.

Blink and MxPx, I think are on the edge but will never fully enter the thresh hold.

Currently I would say the best three bands on my mind are:

A New Found Glory (Ireally like Hit or Miss)
Goldfinger ( City with two faces is good, and I still like Superman)
Fenix Tx ( All of the songs that showed up seem good)

props to Guttrmouth and theur song "lipstick" I hate my mom to:)

As usual I listen to everything that comes close to true punk adn a LITTLE bit of true punk.

T.J.:p *shakes head at what he said about AH-F*

Now thats better TJ! :D You need to check out these bands too though....

Asking For It (Traditional HC Punk)
Tsunami Bomb (I have a feeling youd like this)
NOFX, Lagwagon, Swingin Utters, etc (anything from Fat Wreckords)
Minor Threat (The loudest, oldest, meanest punk band I could think of. Harder than DK and Black Flag!)

I like NOFX and Lagawon. they're cool. I'll check out the rest as well. Thnx, I just got out of a really dark spot in my life where I liked rap a little *shivers*. i can't believe it.

I'll take this opportunity to shamelessly plug Fenix Tx. They kick ass.

I can't seem to fing Goldfinger in any store around here... I've gone as far as Tacoma to find an album (any of them) but can't, it sucks.

An I can't find "Nothing Gold Can Stay," the album by NFG. Bummer :(

tj:p

Go see the Royal tenenbaums!
