Fans of Stupid Red Burn, I'd like your help...

I've come to a realization. No matter how much I want to avoid it...no matter how much I want to spend a lot of time playtesting to find the perfect mix of cards of all colors to play in each format...I find myself returning to my dark master, Stupid Red Burn (and its smarter, curvy cousins, Sligh and Deadguy Red). There are so many reasons I come back to this deck.

At any rate, I'm planning a small website devoted to the deck genre. I'm guessing there's a place for it. I mean, there was a Sligh-brary at one point, and it's gone, so maybe I can do something good along those lines.

Here is my first plea for help from you good people. I'd like to include a history of burn. However, I haven't been playing Magic for all that long. I'm wondering if any of you could provide me with information on articles (or better yet, the articles themselves...) from Magic's early days regarding burn. I understand that cards like Fireball and Lightning Bolt spawned quite a few burn decks from the start of the game, so I'm hoping the Duelist or some other publication, paper or online, has some articles that I could quote or link to.

Please let me know about this or if you have any other ideas for the website. Thanks!

BTW, anyone know how to pronounce the original name for Sligh (based on RPG goblin language), Geeba? Is it a hard G or is it pronounced <jee' ba>?

Oh geez, now you got the sligh munchies into me... All I want to do now is read and play sligh. The weird thing is... My sligh-iesh deck is a bit controllish. Oh well. Anyway, about that site, i will be glad to give you web-space if you need it, and even a .com adress. Just PM. Glad I could be of help. Oh yeah, and don't try to find history of sligh on dojo, i did the search and it was either a broken link or somethin else. Get back to me!

Heh...glad I could encourage some pyromania in you.

Controllish, eh? I didn't realize until I started looking into it a while back that Sligh started out as a more control-oriented deck. Then, I guess, things like Scroll and Ball Lightning took Sligh--and the rest of the environment--to new heights of speed.

I think at some point on The Dojo, they switched from thedojo.net to thedojo.com. Since all of their Sligh stuff is so old, it's on the lost dojo.net pages. Maybe I'll try to contact them to see if that can be found anywhere.

As I have played at SOLAR(solarinc.org), the place where Geebas come from, I can attest that it is yelled as "GEE BA" like bee-Gee, except it's not really "gee" it's Gheeba...

uuhh... got that?

Not that it really helps you (I don't think), but wasn't Dune Echo or Gizmo doing an article-type thing on Sligh/red in CPA Issues? It's been a month so maybe I'm remembering wrong... but there was something in there about Sligh.

I just realized from reading the other thread...was that Gizmo that wrote the Sligh article on the Sideboard? I can't get to the Wizards site right now to check the author's name.
