Lol, I like this one! I'd drop the color changing however. Maybe replace it with regeneration...

protection from creatures AND regeneration?
I would add something like "B, sacrifice a creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on ~this". Seems correct, flavor-wise

very true... changing creature type works... plus he still has the protection..

changing color isnt an issue.. but being able to sac a creature works...
i'll change it to that instead..

usually yes. Black does have cards that pertain to certain creature types like engineered plague, bidding, etc.. plus
black has propaganda (koskun falls)
black has counterspell (Withering Boon)
black has shatter (Phyrexian Purge)
black has a Tim (Cuombaji Witches)

although they differ in cost/quality black and blue sometimes mesh.
Plus he really had to be black... he's got a cow hoof stitched to him :D

Aside from what other cards can do, with the card starting out as a black card, I also see no reason to have it be a color-changer. Most people will not use color specific cards unless they have a way to change the color (Slights, Mind Bends, etc...) and to me, black is the best color to have overall on the table cause then you are safe from "...target nonblack creature" which is a lot more common than any other non-color creature. Not so sure about the Regeneration though. Would be handy against direct damage, but not in combat since you can gain pro-any critter with a 2 mana tap. What about some of the older abilities, flying, trample, (considering the name of the card itself ...)banding? But I do like the card and the idea behind it. Overall...kudos to you!

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
I have dreamt of a black Morphling (like any devoted fan of black). This is not it. It only has three abilities. That's more like Order of the Ebon Hand or something.

Morphling is broken. A black counterpart should be as broken. Actually it should be even more broken, because it--it's black. Also, I really like Darkling Stalker, from Tempest. But no one ever uses it. Even I don't use it anymore...

So, we keep the mana cost and the power/toughness the same. I guess the creature type fits well enough also, and the picture is fine, but the abilities should be...

B: Regenerate Grafted Fleshbeast.
B: Grafted Fleshbeast gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
B: Grafted Fleshbeast gains fear until end of turn.
B: Grafted Fleshbeast gains first strike until end of turn.
B: Destroy all creatures blocking or blocked by Grafted Fleshbeast.

Hey, it's not going to be a black morphling if it sits there changing its creatrue type and its color. I mean, that's kind of morphing. But I'll pick the "five good abilities" part of Morphling over the "change characteristics of myself" part of morphling.

hmm.. very true about the color changing and the abilities...

heres morphling..

U: Untap Morphling.
U: Morphling gains flying until end of turn.
U: Morphling cannot be the target of spells or abilities until end of turn.
1: Morphling gets +1/-1 until end of turn.
1: Morphling gets -1/+1 until end of turn.

we have to gauge abilities at least as cheesy but try not to go over...

B: Regenerate Grafted Fleshbeast.
B: Grafted Fleshbeast gains fear until end of turn.
B: Destroy all creatures blocking or blocked by Grafted Fleshbeast.
1: Grafted Fleshbeast gains first strike until end of turn.
1: Grafted Fleshbeast gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
1: Sacrifice a creature, [GF] put a +1/+1 counter on [GF].

its almost identical to your idea.. but it adds the sac ability.

Morpling can fly, he has fear (both evasion)

Morphling cant be targeted.. which could be similar to regen or pumpable.

Morphling can self untap.. messing with blocking
(your idea of destroying blockers is similar)

Morpling can pump but make himself weaker, when you make him weaker you usually have to pay an additional 1 to make him untargetable.. similar to regenerate.

Morpling can get good defense.. the sac ability helps with that..

above all though, nothing trumps untargetability.. so fleshbeast can be friggin huge if you want...

i'll definately have to change this guy to that...

cause when you play a morphling turn 3 people go... oh ****..

i think people would say the same for this guy..

next time i go home i'll have to grab his template and work on him..
at first glance i was cringing how annoying it would be to template the changes... but i can cut the entire first 2 lines of text..
