Extended: Three Duece

Arrrrrrrrgh! Where and wheninthehell did this thing 'pop-up'? It crushed my Tradewind-Survival deck last week (and it didn't hurt that my opponent is a former 'pro-tour' member).
From what I can remember, his deck had the following:
Rancor
Mogg Fanatic
Granger Guildmage
River Boa
Dwarven Miner
Elvish Lyrist
Llanowar Elves
Swords to Plowshares
Wax/Wane (The "Hero" of his deck!)
Incinerate
Land Grant
CRUSED SCROLL (just about the only guy in the area with these puppies)
and maybe some other stuff.
I was amazed, this thing had my deck for lunch.
Oh, I forgot, he had Wastelands and Treetop Villages, too.
He had a frickin' answer for every single-thing in my deck, and when he sideboarded (Pyroblasts), it got worse!
I almost chuckled in the first opening turns, I was like, "Man, this dude usually plays control decks, what gives?" Well, I guess he still does! I still went 3 - 1 for the night, but, whew, I DO NOT look forward to being matched up against THAT deck, again, anytime soon.

BTW, I made a proxy of Three Duece to playtest against, I am liking it more and more. Does anyone know any history on this deck? I've never seen it mentioned here or anywhere else recently.

Three-Deuce, aka The Trix Killer.

Three-Deuce was designed halfway through last year's Extended PTQ season, when Trix dominated the world as a whole. It was carefully put together to handle everything Trix could throw at it, while also committing adequete beatdown to the table to create a solid clock to victory. It used basic disruption through Wastelands, Miners, and occassionally other LD, beatdown from Boas and Fanatics, and some combat 'tricks' to give itself a chance against Counter-Sliver, and to rely more on skill than draws. Swords and a few other light removal spells like Incinerate rounded out the selection of cards.

It's a neat deck. :) And it CRUSHES Trix. Flat.

Yeah, it crushes Trix. And the mixture of burn and creatures does well against most weenie strategies. However, it would seem that it doesn't do well against TS or Forbiddian(I crushed 4 Three-Deuce decks last season. Of course, I had 4 maindeck Back to Basics). Something to keep in mind.

Three Deuce was designed specifically to combat Trix,so I dont really understand how it could take on Tradewind-Survival and beat it so easily.

The current TS decks are low on land (yes, YJ?) and so it is very easy to stop them if you can crimp their first few turns of mana development.
Two dead elves + a dead land = dead TS deck.
Guildmage would be a beating, and backed up by a little Scroll/Incinerate/Swords action the TS deck would probably drop to the 4pts of beatings before it can get going.

I like Deuce, nice deck. Elegant. Hates Sligh though (and we are currently debating if Forbiddian owns it, or just rents).

Sideboard Crimson Acolyte vs. Sligh, and if it's that bad, add Heroes' Reunion.

My T-S version only runs 12 lands, that is usually enough for the deck, except when I played against Three-Deuce, I didn't have mana problems at all that night.
I forgot how much havoc Granger Guildmage can cause, I used to use it during my Mirage-Tempest T2 days in my 5CG Tradewind-Geddon deck.
I have made another extended proxy deck for play-testing and it's name is THREE-DEUCE!

Gizmo, forbiddian owns it and leases on weekends.....

I love the deck, too. Any beatdown deck, I love.
