Whenever a creature is put into the graveyard from play, that creature's controller sacrifices a land.

Maybe I should have thought of some clever things to say about the deck. Anyway, the point of the deck is to get out the Burning Sands, Pendrell Mists, and a Varchild's War-Riders. They'll start accumulating tokens, which will have an upkeep cost of 1. That ties up their mana and keeps them from playing other spells. If they don't pay, they lose lands and that also keeps them from playing spells as well. I keep thinking that the Phoenixes are overkill since I've got Caltrops, but I don't know what to replace them with.

pyroclasm would work as well though not as reusable. still the phoenix would trigger the sands and wouldn't be reusable infinitely.

What about that red spell that deals 2 damage to creatures coming in play? Aether something...?
