Evil Ernie in Judgement?

A rumor is out on MTGnews that Ernham Djinn will be reprinted as a rare in Judgement. The picture seems to confirm that.

Regardless, I don't believe that Ernham will shake up the environment too much, since the quality creatures in green will leave him little room. I'd still love to get a copy for the new art, though. ;)

Does anyone think he will see constructed play? Unlike the reprinted Serra and Sengir, Ernie's 5 toughness immunizes him from that sick FTK bastard.

Ernie's coming back.

*Ransac dances the pigeon in celebration. Unfortunately, it knocks everybody else in the room out.*

Whoops.

FTK: F... That Kavu.

Watch for it in the first of a series of posts called, "Legacy Weapon Target of the Week." In pande-bounce and other exploitive come-into-play strategies, it's just nuts.

I really would like to see Ernie come back. It would make Judgment sofa-king good.

I was going to put FTK on display as Target #1, but I changed my mind after seeing some of the stupidest, most expensive wastes of cardstock ever on apprentice.

Will Ernham Djinn see play without Armageddon? That's what it was mostly paired with back when it was reprinted in Chronicles...

I don't think it would need Geddon. A 4/5 for 4 mana isn't bad, and it hardly needs a Geddon to prove it. Yet, players may be more hesitant to play it, depending on what decks are popular.

With so much non-basic land options, I'm sure decks will pop up that will include him.

Without Armageddon, Ernie should instead see play in blue-green decks. It's easily splashable and survives FTK.

With the single-shot Shotgun not killing Ernie, I'd say he's a possible canidate for inclusion in some decks. I don't know where, but Im sure the mana producing critters would love to see him stomp around. He might be targetable, but you've got to hit him where it counts...

But, who knows? Sengir isn't even being played in that mono-black junk. I wonder if Ernie will seem to have a stick up his oink like Sengir did...

Sengir is FTF. So he doesn't count.

As for Ernie, it will depend on what green gets. If green gets something that smells like Rancor or Berserk* then Ernie will probably start uprooting trees and smashing skulls. Otherwise, he's just another reprint that will pull the black-boarder premium.

* I pulled this idea from where the sun doesn't shine, but it's possible. We saw Nantuko Mentor trying a similar trick, I wouldn't be totally surprised if they did something like "2GG, Inst, Cast during combat, attacking critter you control gets Trample and +X/+X equal to CC, sac after combat" or the like.
