I'm not sure if it DOESN'T happen, but I haven't noticed it.
In the calender when I post an event, it doesn't post it on the main page. I think it should, if it's possible. No reason why not to. It gives people a chance to see what cool things are happening(and gives people a chance to see if they are missing anything they scheduled a while ago).
If you give the arguement "Why is that important enough to change", ask yourself "Why is it important to post the birthdays", then. Normally, peopl post in theirs posts that it's their birthday anyway and somethings even post a whole thread for it.
