Since sending various complaints and suggestions to the WoTC seem [I meant 'are' but would have been too hard] to ignore most [I meant '100%' here also] could not the CPA each month gather up complaints from the members sort them up [I could, I would] and send them to the CPA. If you haven't noticed you members of the CPA is a very stong organisation with alotta members. We should try and maybe we could get back replys [even frakkin lousy ones] to our complaints.

Excuse my grammar, im cold, im sleepy and i haven't played magic for 4 days.

Just write the message, and we'll all copy and send it ten times.

8,000 e-mails comeing in at once should get some attention...

If you to get WOTC's attention, spamming them is NOT the way to do it.

It has been discussed before, but someone should be designated a CPA "contact" person (perhaps NeuroDeus, since he brought it up), gather up all the complaints, write a cohesive and intelligent letter outlining the problem and possible solutions, submit it here for final review and approval, and then send it to WOTC. That would probably be more effective and keep the perception that we're a "serious" organization (as opposed to a random, spamming one).

I would do it. We just bring up the main complaint as a thread in the channel and make people discuss it until they burst. After a week I get the most sensible suggestions and opinions and formulate a gorgeous letter and stamp CPA Members at the end. The reply if I get one I will send straight to Zadok or to the Orgg.

The 'but' is that I need to have the approval of the rulers (could not find a better word). Not just Zadok (bless this guy) but all of them (those who still are active)...

This all seems awfully familiar...

Anyhow, just because WotC doesn't personally respond to your emails does not mean they're being ignored.

In fact, I think the last few sets (Invasion in particular) demonstrates that the opinions of the Casual Player are important to WotC.

I hate saying this, but I really don't think we should try to open a channel. I'VE TRIED! It's not that WotC doesn't care. It's just not how they operate. They don't take input from specific sources. The browse the web and gather info from the boards in general. I really don't think they'll even respond. It's not their policy. Personally, I think we'd be better to do something which no one has been able to do (including myself...): I think someone should do a weekly/monthly editorial for the whole board based on the voting booth and what issue and side people feel most strongly about.

I'd love to do this, but my time is very limited just like everyone else's is. It used to be more free and I could do something like this. If anyone takes up this mantle, I'd like to help them if they request it. I'm sure a lot of the founders would love to help with something like this. But unfortunately, people have more time during the summer when school is out. Until then, good luck at getting a clear, conscious effort out us. We just don't have the time... None of us...

Good point, Dune, and you're correct.

There is, nonetheless, an option to send them mail directly, and that option should be explored to the fullest. Anyone up for that?

i think we should try to send them mail directly, because frankly, we the casual players out number the type two legal players quite a bit, we are what makes the game what it is, we spread the game and introduce new players, we are magic and we deserve to be heard

Here's the facts, as admitted by WotC.

1. The number of casual players (ones that do not play in more than 1 tournament a year) outnumber the tournament set.
2. The Tournament set buys more cards than the casual set.

The recent sets have had the casual player in mind, what else do you want? Sanctioned Multiplayer? No more Pro Tour?

From the Rosewater Interview:

Orgg: Mr. Rosewater, would you allow surveys taken by the CPA to be sent to you? If so, would they have any influence on the future set releases?

Maro: Data is always good. Whether any one poll is listened to has a lot to do with how much it corresponds with other data we are getting.

I was hoping that this would give TomB(the guy that does the surveys) the incinative to mail the survey results to Mr. Rosewater...

That's the way I enterprited it..

Since I thought we'd decided to have our PR guy do the mailings, Orgg. It would be the logical person for the job, if you think about it. That's why I suggested you for the job, after you did such a great thing with the Adkison interview.

I thought you accepted that position, didn't you?

I realize the Baron came back just long enough to make clear that he still thinks of himself as the PR guy, only he's disappeared again, so I'd say it would fall to you now (and permanently) if you want it.

Of course it doesn't really matter at this point, since the info on the votes got blown away when the site changed over. Maybe Mike can dig up the old RobPoll stuff if you want to go ahead and start.

What do you think?

I REALLY like the idea of someone typing a monthly review of the boards. Then we can put it on the front page AND send it to WOTC. Also, i would mind helping to do that IF people actually find something to complain about :) BTW i think that a T2 player does not mean a non casual player :D

Honestly, I really can't complain right at the moment. WotC has done a LOT for the casual player lately. We're getting lots of casual cards and the game is no longer combo oriented, it's who has the fattest creature now. And how many cards now affect ALL players? Sure, we're all going to have gripes, WE'RE PLAYERS! ;)

If anyone can find any true things to complain about right now, they're looking REALLY hard IMO. Come on! They finally reprinted DUAL lands in the UNCOMMON slot! Other than changing the speed of cards and more player feedback in regards to card creation process, what else is there that's not really just a gripe? Of course, that is all my humble opinion because I'm mostly happy with the game. I'm just poor and that's my problem... :) But I'm also really tired right now, so I probably can't come up with any really good issues that can't be addressed. But hey, I'll be happy to assist anyone that sends an article my way.

I think we can ask MaRo to open a channel, but I really don't think we're going to get a pat on the head and say "Good players. Here's some free cards." Our impact will have to simply be felt in future sets.

Spiderman: Never left, dude. Just too busy troubleshooting people's PC at my job instead of sitting on my duff doing nothing to reply to these threads... (What a concept, having to work for your pay!) Whenever an important subjects like this jump out at me, I'm gonna reply!

I'm still just the assistant, TomB. Since the Baron isn't here usually, I'll do the stuff that's nessissary.

However, Since your the master of the Polls, it might be best if you did that.

Give me your E-mail and I'll E-mail maro to try and set it up.

The second best thing from going through theorgg I think would to probably post to usenet (rec.games.trading-cards.magic.misc), where the WotC NetRep's reside. I'm not sure, though, if they would have the info or be able to do the things that ya'll want, but I dunno.

Why don't we wait and see what Yellowjacket's poll turns up in the way of popular support for the idea first, before we decide to go ahead with this. If no one else steps forward to take on the responsibility I'll try I guess, since my old objections aren't really valid anymore.

To be honest though, I think we ought to run a whole new battery of polls, since many of the people who voted in the old ones have gone on their merry way already, and we've many newer members who I'm sure would like to have their input included as well.

It appears the link from the front page to the Voting Booth is working again, so we CAN do it.

Let's find out first whether we ought to. :D

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

That's my opinion. A long time ago a WOTC representative said to us (throught Zadok, I think it was) that she is out there are and WOTC are really reading the board. I wholeheartedly agree that last sets proved that WOTC cares about us casuals. Just look at Prophecy! :D So I say let's just continue doing what we're doing.

Off-topic: Hey TomB, where you've been?
Haven't seen you around lately.
What happened to TombStones? :D
