Does anybody of you here take interest in the great Cartoon of the SSJ Goku, Vegeta and the others?

Well, my friend, who's handle here is Goku, obviously is a viewer of the series.

I just liked the parts where Cell kicked everyone's a$$es around. Also took some voice clips and made a nifty voice pack for Unreal Tournament. :)

I've also played Hyper Dimension, which isn't bad, but pales in comparison to MUGEN.

MUGEN's a fighting game engine, currently a public ßeta, that lets people design charaters. There's a few dozen for DBZ, as well as other games, like Street Fighter.

...ever think Tails (of Sonic fame) could K.O. Piccolo in 26 seconds? :) :D :p

(For the interested, screenie of Mugen after Me (Tails) and Cell (CPU) ended a 129-hit combo(!) here: hetemti.freeservers.com )

MUGEN's at:
http://www.elecbyte.com/games/mugen

The best Sonic and DBZ characters are at:
http://www.ssonic.hpg.com.br/

Note: If you wan't to mix the Sonic characters with the DBZ ones and play with friends, you might want to enhance the Sonic char's attacks a bit. Also, MUGEN 11.29 (current version) won't work with "old" characters. Look for version 6.27, 7.31, or 11.29 ("new mugen") characters.

...MUGEN is pretty cool.

My brother downloaded it, and he showed me the whole process of "adjusting" a character to our own personal needs. Not only does it do that, but it combines all the fighting characters from all kind of games: the Street Fighers, the Dark Stalkers, the King of Fighers, Fighter's Fury, Mark of Wolves, and even some characters from PokeMon and Sonic...it's amazing. I don't play it though, since I have Guilty Gear X (import). Now THAT is a fighting game.

Back to the subject, anime are pretty cool. My favorite happens to be Dark Stalkers...because of Morrigan. Great attitude, great personality, and you could say she's "over busted". :)

I happen to like that series. Call me crazy, but the mindless violence is quite attractive at times. My significant other's got the entire movie collection in original Japanese.

Yes, I had a crush on Vegeta, if you need to ask. I find his arrogance to be a turn-on. ;)

What's with women and Vegeta? You're the 3rd one I've met that had/has a crush on him.....any way DBZ is pretty good especially the unedited Japanese episodes...Master Roshi is the MAN!:D

So... you like arrogance eh PJ?

I happen to be remarkably full of myself, far more than that fellow could ever hope to be (wink, wink; nudge, nudge) ;)

Vegeta's a weenie. He is so weak (Piccolo is stronger than him for a good deal of the series).

Ah, well. He likes to kep that air of mystery around him.
What a pimp.

Who here like Gohan? He is my fav. I love the Masangko, Gohan's special ki blast. Yes, I've read some of the DBZ comic books.

ki= energy (Kamahamaha is a Ki blast and Destructo Disk(Kienzam) is a ki blast)ok.

I think Gohan is a decent character, although too many think that the series follows him... it doesn't. Dragonball, DBZ, and DBGT follow the life of Son Gokou. Not Gohan.

Although he does provide some good comic relief... I think that his personality can be perfectly expressed as a whole by his whistle dance at the beginning of DBZ Movie #4. It's golden.

Oh yeah.. 'Ki' does not just mean energy. It means one's inner strength, and how much power that the person can channel through their physical and mental self. The Chinese know it as 'Chi'.

What is it with women and Vegeta? The same thing with Hiei (Yuu Yuu Hakusho) and Aoshi Shinomori (Ruroni Kenshin). Unlike their "hero" counterparts, namely Gokou, Yusuke and Kenshin, these characters have three things: style, attitude and a personality. This has nothing to do with power or skill, which you men seem to favor.

Characters like this appeal to me because they are more three-dimensional, more real than the "heroes." Gokou is like a paladin.

Sterile.

Heck, Piccolo has more personality than Gokou. In fact, if Piccolo weren't a plant, I'd probably have a crush on him, too. ;)

LMAO @ inside joke. :D

True, but most superheros are rather bland when compared to their foils and nemesii. Otherwise the audience won't "connect" with them, and not care as much if they win or lose. You know a good guy is good because he fights bad guys. But how bad is a bad guy? You have to ask sertain questions: Does he want to kill everyone or would he rather make everyone wear overalls and dance the mambo? Is he mad cuz he's ugly, or because our hero dropped him into a radioactive vat of hamster urine? Does he kill because he has to or because he finds it entertaining. Pepsi or Coke?

Very important these attributes are. After all, what kind of baddy would think twice before punting a kitten?

Hey, what about beating up a poor defensless weasel? Some who does that is bad.

Oh, Anyway, I like Gohan best not because of his role. I like him because his true power level is not open to him at all times. He has to learn what makes his power come out slowly. But, in the mean time, his power level only shows when he truely needs it. See, at the beggining on DBZ, Gohan blows up a big mountain that is about to crush his skull. He grows stronger from loss. AND, he is piccolo's favorite person.:) See?

Villains are good, and can be quite fascinating (as demonstrated by Perfect Cell), but the heroes are what it's all about. They have personality. There are many times in the series when one sees Gokuo express cunning and a good sense of humor; and not just the times he was giddy. He has admirable traits, and he would give up anything for the people he cares for.
Piccolo can be put in the same mold, although he used to be quite like Vegeta, just w/o the superiority complex.
Vegeta is a wannabe who tries to make it seem like he cares for no one, and he would go to any length to prove it; even hurting many people. And his character is so cliched, as well... the dark, brooding guy with a lot of power, tries to be a bad guy. Oh how cool...not really. One gets sick after a while of constantly seeing characters like this, when Gokuo and Piccolo become rarities, in a world where people like it better when you are 'bad'. They are good people.

And when it really comes down to it, Gokuo and Piccolo can kick anyone's rear end any day.

Same with Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Pan(in DBGT that is). They all Kick @$$es and are all good, well, Trunks is sort of like his father, but better. But when Trunks and Goten merge, Gotanks is the BOMB!!!! The 2 ghost attacks are really cool, same with the super-hold-dountnut-attack. They are THE bomb, but they are immature(but, who cares, they were about 8 at the first time) PLUS, the powers of Gogetta was ultimate. Goku was incontrol during that one. Vegetto was the bad one. Pan is one of the most powerful, but she is also just a little kid. Gohan WAS power, but he turned into a geek when he married. Even so, Gohan is still my fav.
