Dragon pics.

I'm getting annoyed by the art now-a-days.

When I heard that there would be new dragon legends, I looked at the old ones by Ed Beard, and wasn't very impressed. They themselves looked just fine, but the color pallette left much to be desired. Seeing some of Ed's recent work, however, made me hope he'd do the next set. Unfortunatly...the great minds of WotC didn't choose to give the opportunity...

From best to worst, Hetemti's Dragon Art Review:

Rith, the Awakener
Embodies his three colors better than the others, the only problem I've got with Rith is the purple scales, which I'd expect only from a R/U combo...still a good pic that fits the card.

Treva, the Renewer
A bit too angelic, she shows little blue nor green influence, however, the dragon is done well and looks good.

Dromar, the Banisher
One big problem...Dromar's a Wyvern. I like Wyverns, but don't get them mixed up. If I recall correctly, Catacomb Dragon was also unarmed, perhaps that's the black influence coming through. Looking in the background, it seems Dromar is hightailing it out of Shiv...wussy.

Darigaaz, the Igniter
One whomba-mega-huge problem here...his wings are attached to his head.
:eek::confused:WTF?:mad::rolleyes:
So...what...when he flies his head bobs up and down while his body dangles the whole way? Not the most elegant of flyers, is poor Dari? :(

Crosis, the Purger
LMAO. Death Charmer had more of a face...seems noöne told Pete that dragons look like flying reptiles, not flying sea-cucumbers. At least he won't starve, he'll just suck some birds into that huge-ass pie-hole of his. :p And his ability? RBU isn't the fastest of colors...by turn 7, you get a combat dependant Disrupting Septer. Boo-Yah! Sure, he's a 6/6 Flying fatbody, but so are all the other NDLs.

Tek
Chippy...I'm sorry. I have to hate you now.
I heard someöne at the PreRelease say it was supposed to be a baby Teeka's Dragon or something...

...no...

That's what the Phyrexians would build if they wanted to emulate the appearance of a good dragon, but had some mixups at the factory. Teeka's Dragon looked like he was ready to crack skulls. Tek looks like he'd have trouble cracking walnuts.

Oh, yeah, and at best you get a 4/4 Flying Firstsrike Trample for RWGUB. Reminds me of Thran Golem...sure, you needed to enchant him, but that meant 5/5 f/1st/t, plus whatever the enchantment did...and that's monocolor. If I'm managing five colors, I don't want Tek...I want something with some muscle, dang it!

They should have made this card in Tek's place...

Forces of Dominaria. RWBGU
Summon Forces
*/*
Forces of Dominaria's power and toughness instead equals the number of lands you control.
At the end of your turn, you must control a Mountain, Plains, Swamp, Forest, and an Island. If you do not, bury Forces.
RR: +1/+0
WW: First Strike
BB: Regenerate
GG: Trample
UU: Flying
"As Urza's warriors, summoned from across the lands, came into formation, he wondered...would even he be able to control them?"

Make the picture a bunch of Goblins and Viahsinos and Angels and Elves and Zombies and Squirrels and Wyverns and Wizards and every other critter type imaginable in an all-out, pandemonious brawl to the death, smackin' Phyrexians with trees and sticks and stones and shovels and Squees and anything else handy. This would make sence! The more lands you control, the more warriors you control, and the more varied their abilities.

Oh, yeah, this is supposed to be about art...they should reprint Shivan Dragon and Dragon Whelp in 7th. The Shivan bitch-slaps almost anything that gets in her way, and the Whelp is so damn cute! :)
(PS, I collect Dragons, and will trade for them. PM me if you want to unload some. Of course, the ones lower on this list are of less value to me, but I'm interested in any and all Dragons...especially a Shichifukujin, should you happen across one...)

Well with your "Neo Tek" (ahahah I just thought of that...) it stinks even worse, the whole point to tek is that it is castible without having to have all 5 colors of mana. Not to metion paying 2 of each color to activate an ability stinks.

Old Tek does everything he needs to, be support for control decks...

Like that would have fooled anyone, anyway. :p
Why didn't you just delete the old message?

Oh, and it became RWUGB because the Forces of Dominaria wouldn't make sence as an Artifact, and otherwise, it'd have to be laced either Gold, or Land (!) and that'd be truly funky.

Oh, and the double color additions are just to reduce the power of the Red effect, and since the other effects don't need multiple activation, a CC cost doesn't matter much. That, and a 5c deck shouldn't have a problem getting a second of the color, since the player already has the first source down pat.

The art is so wrong, though...when was the last time you Snuck Attaked with Mon's Goblin Raiders?

Not often, but I have used a goblin marshall to direct a sneak attack, so there!

The dragons are very distinctive, making it easy to tell one from another, and I think that was the intent. BTW, Crosis looks like a big flying leech, and that's a very black thing. (Quagmire Leech, Mana Leech, Andralite Leech)

....ruby leech, Jade leech, alabaster leech, sapphire leech, land leeches, power leech, spirit leech, thought leech.....

Not all leeches are black :)

Does it count that two of those cards weren't creatures?

Yeah, but if it was the exclusive power of the New Year Badger to cure poison, that card would be called "Badgers" instead. Nyahh!

"Objection! Badgering the Leeches!"

Bah, humbug. Leeches are, in fact, white.
