Okay, I was wrong about the Rukh Egg coming back. But who can blame me for being hopeful, eh?

But check out the attached picture. It's the Riptide Replicator card from Onslaught. Look and see just exactly what is being replicated. Now, I won't tell you what I think it is, since I don't want to, uh, color your judgement.

IT'S A FREAKIN SLIVER, MAN!!!

But why don't you just take a look. I'll let you come to your own...

SLIVERS ARE COMING BACK!!!

...conclusions.

Interesting. There have been rumors going around for some time. Of course, this begs the question of whether the rumors were started in the first place because someone got a look at this card, or if they were from a different source.

Regardless, I don't see Slivers being a problem unless they reprint Crystaline Sliver. The Slivers were pretty good, but that's the one that causes them to be top tier.

The only problem is maybe it is just an inside joke like Deep Analysis. Refering to an old recognizable card.

Will someone fill me in on the inside joke with Deep Analysis? Besides the obvious thing with the name...

The artwork in Deep Anal(ysis) is of Masticore on an examination table.

The flavor text:
"This specimen appears to be broken"

...or something to that effect.

Oh yeah, and I agree with EricBess 100%.

I think it would be kind of neat to bring back the Slivers (without Crystalline, thank you very much) but I think we could do without the Queen. As for the Replicator, those look like cephalids. I'm not sure where you guys are seeing the sliver.

EDIT: Oh. The outline of the thing on the table, not the things looking at it.

Ok. So why is it called "Riptide Replicator"? What does it have to do with a riptide? Other than the fact that the things using it are blue creatures, that is. Looks like they're pouring lava to me...

There's no question about that being a Sliver. Of course, Sliver is a creature type in magic, so you can certainly use the Replicator to create Slivers.

But, that doesn't mean they are going to bring back Slivers anymore than Deep Analysis means they are going to bring back Masticore.

Not saying they won't, I'm just saying that I think it's sort of a running gag that The Cephalids analyze "dead" species from bygone eras. So, I would be more surprised to see them come back then to not see them come back, but either way wouldn't surprise me much.

This card I will base this post upon. This card references an old card. I think the replicator simply references an old card as well, but a more obsqure one.

Anyone ever do any Limited events w/ Tempest/Stronghold or TSE?

What did you set this to? Most did "red neck" tokens in Mississippi, and... unwrightable choices were made in atlanta...

However, the top players always set it to somthing different: Sliver.

Usually, this card would make Black Sliver 2/2 tokens. I do belive that, since this card is so similar to the Laboratory of Volrath, that WOTC asked the artist to reference slivers as they did with Masticor.

Then again, I could be wrong-- But I don't think I am.

I think they will make a cycle of 5 new slivers; one for each color. I don't think they're bringing them back "all the way."

I actually put a Volrath's Lab in my Sliver deck. It worked well - at least until my Sliver Queen came out and I was able to pump them out like candy...

I can see that. Bring back Metalic Sliver - then bring back Raging Bull, Headless Horseman, and Deep Spawn...

-Ferret

"...and of course, Joven's Ferrets!"

...If WotC peeps reads these boards like ever, I would love to see Ferrets return as a creature type. Perhaps as the next block's "basic" 1/1's. Or perhaps, like Mongoose, an occasional green weenie with a neat ability.

Joven's Ferret's RULE, man!

I've always thought that a whole set that featured Ferrets and other members of the weasel family would be cool...Hmmm...I think I'll write a thread in Home Made Cards...
