Disk/Rescue Trick....what's up wit dat?

I saw something that was cool. I'm sure this is old news, but not to me. I played against a dude who played Rescue in response to having his Nevinrryal's Disk going off. I guess since the disk does not have to be sacrificed in order for the effect to go off, this makes it possible to return it back to your hand and still benefit from it going off. I didn't question it since a level 1 judge was standing there watching. Was I bamboozled, or is this trick really legit.?

It is legit. The Disk destroys itself as part of its effect, so you can respond. Cool huh?
I miss the Disk...

When Disk and WOrb left the whole of tournament strategy went with them.

But on topic:
We did the Disk trick all the time - Capsize was a wonderful card.
