Why does it seem like Im always prefacing my posts?

Ok, lets preface- this question is about your current DCI rating..I KNOW where Im at...CPA...blah blah blah...

I wanted to know if you KNOW yor DCI rating, if so who has the highest here (registered Members).

FORTUNE TELLER- Im ready for the obligatory answers- " Who cares", " Whats DCI?", "Go Somewhere else A**hole!" " IM Casual!!"

A Simple question...no need to be rude. You may if you want of course.

Mines a follows.-

Vintage (type 1) 1636
Constructed (type 2) 1640
Composite 1597
Limited 1554

Thanks- (I think)

Last time I checked (about a month ago), my composite was 1604. At one time, my standard rating was around 1800, then Urza's Saga came along and made decks built on less-than-completely-broken cards obsolete.

Not that I really care.

The ratings system is so screwed up that I think it's irrelevant. My primary complaints with the current DCI rating system are:

1. Random reporting. "Sanctioned" events that are never turned in. This isn't the DCI's fault, but organizers shouldn't represent tournaments as fully sanctioned, and charge accordingly, if they have no intention of turning in the results. On the other hand, that sealed deck tournament where you got a totally unplayable pile never fails to be turned in.

2. Fraud. People manipulating the results and turning them in, favoring themselves or their "homeboys" that can't legitimately get a good rating. When discovered, this should be severely punished.

3. Obsolete data. I have matches included in my rating against people that haven't picked up a Magic card in years. And, I know of one guy who "retired" years ago, with a fairly high rating. He hasn't played in years, but he's still listed as one of the top players in his state, based on DCI rating. Also, how can my standard rating be affected by matches played with cards that are no longer in standard? 7th Ed. standard is vastly different from 4th Ed. standard, yet for ratings calculations, they count the same. Matches older than 2 years should be discarded, or there should be a separate "lifetime" rating that captures this data.

4. I don't know how to categorize this, but players shouldn't be allowed to sit on a high rating once they achieve it. There is a well-known, highly rated player, who recently stated that since he's going to the next 4 Pro-Tours based on his current rating, he won't play in any other sanctioned events that might drop his rating and knock him off the gravy train - I guess you can't get knocked out of any more top 8s if you're not in the tournament, huh? Highly rated players should get only 1 invitation per year based on their rating. If they don't earn an invite based on the results of their play AT THE PRO-TOUR, they should go back on the qualifier circuit like the rest of us.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I love playing t2 and extended... there definetly my best types. Vintage I'm not bad at. I played a couple of tournys when I first started and did really bad, thern i finnaly got good but he stopped sanctioning it after i got good ( not purposely, but no one cares bout vintage ) . I played like 1 sanctioned draft in my whole life, but actually draft a lot.

Limited = 1939
Constructed = 1855
Composite = 1897

My constructed is pretty low right now, usually approx 1950. Gotta love those GP Top-8s for bumping up Limited though, :D

*sigh*

Some other one that isn't labeled but only includes one event so it might be the one constructed event I've played in: 1615

Let's please not go there...
My ratings are weighted too heavily in the past, when I played sanctioned at least once a week and sucked...really really sucked.

Now I'm lucky to play sanctioned once a month (more like every 6 weeks) and I still haven't recovered.

Let's just say...I wish I was as good as Sammy Dead-O and please please leave it at that.
