(The groups sees Si'Nat drop all of the following from his pack to make room for the mace...

60 needles
49 pin cushions
12 ribbons
large sack
small sack
spare guard uniform
5 scraps of paper...)

"That should allow it to fit... This mace would make a nice gift to the princess as verification the evil is gone..."

You open the door and see a 20' square room. It contains a bed, a large wooden chest, a stool, and a wooden wardrobe. There are no other visible exits beside the door you just came through.

(Begins searching the room - chest first... carefully spends time checking for traps before opening (like two turns worth))

"Well, let's see whats we got, and then check door number two..."

**Going back for a second, shouldn't the mace go to the cleric? Especially if it's possibly a magic weapon? Oh, and Rondo put the guard uniform in HIS pack before the group moved on...:)**

The chest is filled with old nightshirts packed in mothballs. The wardrobe is empty. The bedclothes are rumpled, as if a number of people had been sitting on it. Otherwise, nothing else of note.

Rondo picks up and stashes the guard uniform.

(I got no problem with that - but why would the cleric want a relic used by evil? I figured it would be left behind - but if we find the princess, it might be good to give her... This guy seemed pretty powerful - but didn't put up much of a fight...)

I agree w/ Si'Nat... The mace had red eyes... I don't think it's a happy mace... :)

Especially since the evil clerics we've run into - and the others have appeared to follow an evil god whose symbol is a red eye... If our cleric wants to brave it, more power to him, but I'm guessing it's made for ill purposes...

I would check the chest for secret compartments... rumpled clothes might also be pushed aside to get to the bottom quickly...

(I won't be checking myself since I'm horrid at that sort of thing...)

Anyone else bothered by the wolf/woman? That's a little scary to me... We should rest... and also, I am out of spells... we don't have to exit if you don't want to... but bear that all I am now is a torchbearer and weak dagger thrower...

"Rest for all of us sounds good - what about doing it in this room - for our night stay, and beginning fresh in the morning?..."

(This would allow us to mind our spells again...)

I say we rest...and while resting, let me see the mace....I will try to see if I can figure any type of dweomer out or anything while preparing my spell for tommorrow....If it ends up being evil or nothin...lets go with the original plan of giving to this supposed princess....

If it is something that can help me be more effective to the group, I will use it...

That's a great idea - resting in here... there's only one door, and we aren't resting for wounds per se... how is everyone doing wound wise?

(I've got 10 arrows...

I'm sure we previously told spidey we auto-retrieve... I think that's why he mentioned a few posts ago that some couldn't be retrieved...)

*** Yep, to "recover" or re-memorize spells, you need a "full night's sleep" (which I take to be 8 hours or turns) and then an "hour" (turn) to actually sit down and memorize (either studying your spellbook or praying to your god). If you're interrupted, you have to start over.

"Well - we need everything we can muster - so let's head out for the night and return tomorrow..."

(Leads the group out, or looks to protectors, etc... Aware it will take turns to make it out - we really need all we can get...)

** You're so far in the palace that it might not be worth it to go all out and encounter wandering monsters. Since, as someone noted, you're in a room with a single entrance/exit, you may want to spike the door shut and do your resting there :)

<cough, hint, cough>
