Got it...

Rondo, Si'Nat, and Patrick have been sent PMs about their situation. As far as I know, Cugel, Bertrem, and Kurik are "resting" in bedroom and awaiting their return.

I don't see any reason for us to continue to be seperated unless Train's PM is involved... We should head back with the rest of everyone to determine a course of action (Finding the Princess!)

PMed the answer since it was asked before you returned.

You have now reunited with Bertrem, Cugel, and Kurik.

(to the old man..)

"Well... now that you have seen there is more at work here than you originally thought - are you willing to aid us through the palace?"

<sigh> "I really haven't seen all that much that you 'so-called' adventurers can't handle, but if you need me to babysit you through to the Princess, let's get this over with."

"We'd be much obliged... please lead the way..."

(gestures for the old man to lead us in the right direction... follows ready with the bow)

He takes you through the north door which leads into a narrow passage with doors in the north wall and east wall. He takes the north door which opens into what seems to be a temple. A statue wearing clerical robes stands in front of an altar while statues of people of varying ages and dressed in regular clothing sit in pews. There seems to be red paint splashed on them and the altar. The man stops.

"By the Protectors! It appears that the evil is more powerful than I thought! I hope we're not too late to stop it..."

Well - at least you know we weren't exaggerating...

**Is Duchess still completely in a daze? We could put her in a cell downstairs if we felt she deserved that fate...**

(Begins searching the room staying aware of the man's motions...)

"Well - what do we do now?!..."

** She's still in a "daze" - I mean, it's more a withdrawn state. She'll respond when directly addressed, but doesn't really react to the area unless it will directly affect her.

This is a huge room, 60' E-W by 50' N-S. There's really nothing else, except Si'Nat finds that the paint is still fresh.

(How tall is the ceiling?... Any ornate carvings on it, etc?)

"Any ideas anyone?... And how much stronger is this evil than you originally suspected?!"

(begins backing into a corner near the entry way with the bow ready... still watching everything I can...)

The ceiling is pretty high, maybe about 30-40' high.

(Doh) There are also two sets of double doors in the east wall and a door in the north wall, far west.

"Well, I really didn't think anything in the castle would be affected - I thought the red glow was just a barrier to keep people from leaving or entering."

"What's through the doors over there? and any idea what we should check on next?"

"The ballroom is that way." He waves absently towards the east doors. "I've no idea what to check on next - I'm torn between 'helping' you warn the Princess and getting back to my own studies to try to break the red glow."

If you can get us a direction, we should be able to take care of ourselves. If we need assistance, we'll come back to you. But perhaps we should talk about this...

(* Gather our group together, I think we might want to consider leaving Duchess w/ the mage. He can take care of himself, and keep an eye on her - rather than the possibility of distraction in combat - Unless we're willing to have her join us like Kurik is for an extra bow (assuming she'd be alright with this)... *)
