A cycle idea I came up with:
Each card has 3 colors, the casting cost of the card being two mana of each color involved.
Effects are relevant to one of the color's core abilities.
Color triplets: GWU, WUB, UBR, BRG, RGW.
Card titles:
GWU = Pure Alliance
WUB = Temporary Alliance
UBR = Dark Alliance
BRG = Raw-Power Alliance
RGW = Nature's Alliance
All cards with color X in the triplet get this effect:
White = Gain 4 life
Blue = Target player draws two cards
Black = Deal two damage to any target, and you gain two life
Red = Destroy target land.
Green = Put two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens into play.
Example:
"Nature's Alliance"
Cost: RRGGWW
Card Type: Instant
Rules Text:
Gain 4 life.
Destroy target land.
Put two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens into play.
