Cut-throat Type 1 Sneak deck?

Hey fellas, I'm hoping you can help me out a little with this one. My group has been playing/building a lot of uber Type 1 decks and playing 1v1's recently, and I have a tough time competing with my casual decks (though you'd be happy to know, CPA-Bosh holds its own impressively well). I want to build an unorthodox Sneak Attack deck to help me combat this zaniness.

The Combo:
Survival / Squee / Darksteel Colossus / Sneak Attack.
The idea being you drop a Sneak & a Survival, SotF for a Squee and then a Colossus. Swing...the Colossus gets recycled back into my library, which I Squee for again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

My competition includes:
Psychatog/Beserk
Worldgorger Dragon
Keeper w/ Tinker Colossus
Other not quite as evil decks

Deck Basis

Combo 13:
4 Sneak
4 Survival
3 Squee (2?)
2 Colossus

Creature Utility 13+:
1+ Wizard Mentor (sneaky tech)
2/4 Mystic Snake
1 Avalance Riders
1 Nicol Bolas
1 Devout Witness (Organgutan? Woodripper?)
1 Symbiotic Wurm
1 Crater Hellion/Havoc Demon/False Prophet
1 Duplicant
1? Greater Harvester
1 Dragon Tyrant
2 Eternal Witness

Support 3+:
3/4 Xantid Swarm
?-2 Beserk (own 2)
? Nature's Lore (Forest-based Duals, worth it? Fetchlands instead?)
? Weird Harvest (Nicol Bolas combo)

Acceleration
1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Sol Ring?
1 Mana Vault

I can the deck support Red, Green, and Blue? This way I can add all the typical Blue restricted bombs. Then what about black Tutors.

I feel that it has a lot of power potential, but it would lack consistency.

How can I make it more reliable?
What essential utility creatures am I missing?
What support cards am I missing?
Should I be strictly focusing on the combo itself? (boo!)

Thanks in advance.

Well reading what your currently stacked up against is it possible to run with black as well? Black would give you three cool features:

1 Planar Void <-- Hoses LOTS of type1 netdecks
2. Best tutors in magic
3. Uber acceleration in Dark Ritual

....possibly disruption if you want to go that way as well

You could also play around the Planar Void with cards like:

Firestorm Phoenix
Viashino Cutthroat
Viashino Sandstalker
ooh and Fatsteel Colossus too.

...I'll follow up more later. gotta skedattle.

Well luck has it that I ran against a rather well tuned Sneak Attack deck yesterday.

Dragon Mage was teh bomb.

What about running 4 Dragon Tyrants and Final Fortunes? You really only need maybe two turns...if that sometimes.

Oooh if your not going to use black I suggest trying out Gambles...works most of the time :)

FYI Train, I gave you Weird Harvest/Nicol Bolas props in Demost's Sneak deck, but I forgot here. My bad.

Curious, why Sylvan Scrying over Nature's Lore? The Lore is a favorite of mine, a very underrated card that cleans your colors and accelerates.

I'm trying to stay away from the Rector/ench. route in here just because I've built that deck a few times in here. Plus I think the creatures should be able to cover most of the utility I'll need.

RL, I can't run Planar Void's b/c of Squee. However, I will likely run 1 Dragon Tyrant (which I can protect with Wizard Mentor and Eternal Witness), and very possibly Dragon Mage - that could be good.

Dark Ritual is tough in here because it wants continuous Red and/or Green mana, 1 shot of BBB is likely only helpful to get Sneak Attack out. Tutors would be nice though, and with Lore's and/or Fetchlands I can likely pull them off.

No one likes Xantid Swarm in here? Being a creature it is easy to get, and in my group killing counter is huge. I figure its a great turn 1 cast, since I often won't get that Sneak into play on T1 anyway.

Burnout and Pyroblast?

I understand Xantid swarm is teh green's tech answer to FoW, and Drains however maybe a more aggressive approach?

Mox Monkey?
Hypnotic Specter (poor guy is underrated these days)
Kavu Chameleon
Blurred Mongoose?

OOH OOH OOH OOH!

As hard as you guys fight, I'm still not sold this is the build for her :p.

The Decree of Silence trick would be cool, but two things to consider:
1) In order for the Decree to work, I still need a Sneak in play which is unlikely to escape the early game coutner barrage.
2) I've got a (largely) uncounterable counter-loop going with Mystic Snake and Wizard Mentor anyway for RR each turn.

In the Eye of Chaos? I've never even seen that monstrosity before. Wow that's strong, as it hurts card-draw as well.

Ok, this is what I'm leaning towards

Combo 11:
4 Sneak
4 Survival
2 Squee
1 Colossus (cut 1 b/c the Avatar is very similar)

Creature Utility 13:
2 Wizard Mentor - seriously, this card is strong in here.
2 Mystic Snake
2 Eternal Witness
1 Avalance Riders
1 Duplicant
1 Woodripper
1 Crater Hellion
1 Nicol Bolas
1 Dragon Tyrant
1 Serra Avatar

Support 10:
4 Xantid Swarm
2 Beserk (overkill?)
1 Ancestral Recall
3 Brainstorm

Acceleration 8
1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Vault

Lands 18
1 Strip Mine
1 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Taiga
4 Trop Island
4 Volcanic Island

Sideboard
1 Aura Thief (nice call, not maindecked b/c I don't see many enchantments)
2 Cloudchaser Eagle
2 Withered Wretch
etc etc

Your still stuck with the "must get sneak attack" problem.

At it's heart a Sneak Attack deck is a rootie -poo wanna be combo deck. As it lives or dies with 1 friggn card.. Just like combo.

So as I Reverend, really damn tired love sees it you got three options to maximize your sneakiness:

1. Add it tutors
2. Add in more disruption
Land
Hand
3. Add in Control
Counters

Call me crazy but I think a sneak attack deck relying on SERIOUS disruption in the form of land/artifact hate could be successful.

Quick and dirty example:

4 Survival
4 Viridian Zealots
4 Wastelands
1 Strip Mine

Hate the hell out of Jewerly, and Land. As most type1 decks are quite land lite.

Minor Adjustments - Is the Worldgorger you face the combo?...

the reason I mentioned the scrying is because it gets you any of your lands - if you need a dorest - fine... if you need a strip mine - say for the academy or something else, then you can get it...

(Phage and Platinum Angel would be cute...)

If you want to steer away from the rectors - here's a different list... Though I strongly encourage the weatherseed treefolks, or Shivan Phoenix, because they keep cards in your hand...

Personally I think it better to run the avatar instead of the colossus because she goes back into the deck, and you can survival squee for her every turn...

Combo 11:
4 Sneak
4 Survival
2 Squee
2 Serra Avatar

Creature Utility 13:
2 Wizard Mentor - seriously, this card is strong in here.
2 Mystic Snake
2 Eternal Witness
1 Avalance Riders
1 Duplicant
1 Woodripper
1 Crater Hellion
2 Nicol Bolas
1 Dragon Tyrant

Support 10:
4 Xantid Swarm
1 Ancestral Recall
3 Brainstorm

Acceleration 8
1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Vault

Lands 18
1 Strip Mine
1 Wasteland
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Taiga
4 Trop Island
4 Volcanic Island

Do you not get the combo? Squee comes back to your hand during every upkeep. Survival of the Fittest requires you to discard a creature card to get a creature card from your library. Since you always have Squee, you can discard him to get the Avatar, Sneak it out, then when the Avatar goes to the graveyard at EOT due to Sneak's trigger, it gets shuffled in your libary. Next turn, you get back Squee and can repeat.

I think Oversoul's point is that both Serra and the Colossus both have the identical 'reshuffle' abilities, so 1 isn't necessarily an advantage over the other.

I'm actually running 1 of each, just for variety. Sometimes I'll want Serra if they don't have a blocker, and other times I'll want the Colossus' trample.

I forgot about colossus's ability - but would still want avatar for power purposes...

The trample is useful though...

I'm almost torn here...

:D

But the avatar is the first turn kill - so I'll stick with her...

What about some Worldgroger Dragon craziness?

Sneak Attack Colossus
Sneak Attack Dragon

EOT Dragon dies returning all your permanants...

...and with the Dragon, the mountains/permanents cip untapped. Sneak out something mean during you opponents turn?

with three colors...you will need some rainbow mana producers.

well accually lets get some different perspectives on this....

Click Here for some fresh thoughts.....read all the way down

1.1 is better IMO

I think Sneak reanimator would prove more effective, as you can get the fatties out w/o using sneak or needing survival.

I'm sorry If this means changing the deck alot, but right now it seems way to slow.

I know a mono-red dragon sneak deck that would oink it before it had a chance to even find a sneak attack......

A couple more variants that might smack the oink off your opponents face

Sorry If i reuined it...or....happy if I helped

Sneak-anime is not bad... I ran it with the burieds, and then corpse dances, animates, and shallow graves... It does well...

the dragon idea I used for a while, but found it more defensive that offensive for utility purposes... such as someone trying to get rid of sneak... or using it as mentioned - to permanently gain a creature...

Just becareful your opponent can't screw you with the CIP effects...;)
