Crazy Chaos Deck

for those of you not familiar with the "crazy chaos" variant, everyone starts with 40 life, gets to play an extra land each turn. and there's an invisible howling mine, mana flare, and concordant crossroads "in play". there's also usually 5-8 people playing.

that being said, here's a deck i made specifically for the format that i want feedback on:

"uncademy", or: "i draw cards"

mana sources:
19x island
3x city of brass
3x fellwar stone

card drawing:
4x rhystic study -> it's great when people forget it's there
2x mystic remora
3x prosperity (to make friends)
1x braingeyser
1x windfall -> not as useful as i'd hoped

other stuff:
1x fastbond
1x recall
4x ivory tower -> so i don't die
1x high tide -> waaaaay too much fun
1x whetstone -> for the kill
2x paradigm shift -> so i don't deck myself
1x firestorm -> get stuff in graveyard for paradigm shift
1x fireball -> late game kill

counters:
4x counterspell
4x arcane denial
2x dismiss -> i dunno about these
2x power sink -> i dunno about these either

force of will should probably go in, and as i'm typing this, i realize how much i need candelabra of tawnos. any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you find yourself running through your deck or are games just over quickly because of the "enchant worlds" (Mine, Crossroads, and Flare)?

Hmmm... Force of Will definitely. I think a Sol Ring should be in there too you'll need the mana as you can win by either decking them, fireballing them, or running them out of cards. The main 2 requires a good amount of mana.

Put in Horn of Greed too. If you want to draw cards, it oughtta be a great help--or annoyance with Fastbond, I guess playtesting will tell that. Considered Turnabout yet? You could conceivably play enough land in a turn to tap it all out, then play Turnabout for a land reset.

How about a Mishra's Factory? It's a nice, uncounterable creature, there for whenever you want to attack. A good deal of the stuff relies on colorless mana anyway, it shouldn't offset things too much.

If you don't want to use Windfall go for the Wheel of Fortune, at least it garantees you 7 cards.

no, the point is that I draw my deck by turn 5 or so (thanks to massive card rawing from rhystic study/mystic remora plus a couple hefty prosperities), then deck everyone with prosperity/whetstone while alternating paradigm shifts (a la gaea's blessing in turboland/some 5cd decks) so that i never run out of cards in my library.

sol ring is actually not necessary, though it may be helpful. the same goes for force of will - if i ever get around to picking up 4 of them, i'll put them in. fireball is, like, plan f, because it's only used if there's one other person left in the game or to annihlate creatures when i don't have a firestorm. more often than not i wind up casting it with x as zero to just not take burn from a city of brass tapped for red, so it'll probably come out of the final draft.

horn of greed never even crossed my mind, and would further help me draw insane amounts of cards if combined with fastbond and a storm cauldron. however, i think having 4 rhystic studies allows me to draw more than enough cards once everyone starts to forget i'm even playing. i'm also thinking of including some random walls just as a bluff.

as far as turnabout goes, that's a really good suggestion. i thought of using awakening in a similar fashion with stroke of genius, but that was just too bulky and couldn't target the whole board. the concept of "untapping my lands = time walk" is why i wanted the candelabra in the first place, but having 4 turnabout makes it much much nicer. (four times as nice, in fact.) thanks for the idea!

nah, there's not supposed to be creatures in this thing. everyone just ignores me for the first few turns because i'm not doing anything but draw cards, and i have no creatures (at least, they ignore me the first time i play this deck... :)). besides, i'm not that fond of the card anyways...

If you don't want to use Windfall go for the Wheel of Fortune, at least it garantees you 7 cards.
actually, what irritated me about the windfall is that i was only drawing it when i had a paradigm shift in the graveyard and the other paradigm shift in my hand, so if i cast it, i would be screwed. the obvious answer is to just put in another paradigm shift, but there's not much room left. windfall is also only useful before i get the combo off, and will most likely go out for the turnabouts (once i get them).

thanks a lot for your suggestions, and i would love to hear them if you have any more!

Ok :p

In my fun artifact card drawing decks I use Feldon's Cane. Right now you're using the 2 Paradigm Shifts for the same effect. If Both end up inthe graveyard, and you still have at least 1 of these left, you'll be ok.

My friend uses a really annoying and damaging combo of Underworld Dreams/Winds of Change. He likes to Prosperity first, but you got that part covered ;)

I don't like the idea of Cities only as lands that make other colors you need. They must ping you a lot, since the Fellwar Sones aren't always gonna give you the color you want(I went at least 30 turns without either me and my friend having black mana :mad: Our Stones were useless and I held Yagmoth's Will for so long I finally Wheeled it away). I suggest Undiscovered Paradise, and depending on how long your turn length is, and how you actually "go off", Rainbow Vale. If you don't want to give the Vale up, you can still use it indirectly with Reflecting Pool.

How often do you really need land away with that deck? I can't tell you how many times I've wished I had Land's edge or Seismic Assault out after having a Prosperity cast... In that same cycle, Zuran Orb/Balance would work nice. Play it right and you end your turn with more life than you started with and you're the only player with land out.

My fun artifact decks used stupid combos I either stumbled upon or thought would be fun. They, of course, annoyed everyone else. Just some random stuff you can throw in would be Thran Forge/Touchstone or Relic Barrier.. Opalessence for the Thran Forge then Clone or Copy Artifact(I got an Underworld Dreams this way ;) )

Too bad you don't want any creatures. Xenic Poltergeist/Royal Assassin is fun :p Noone likes their Sol Ring assassinated.

hmmm. the deck is still in beta stages at this point, although rainbow vale is a good suggestion for a 5c-land, since i've been able to go off over the course of one turn now that i run turnabout. the only reason i don't mind city as much is because we all start at 40 life, plus i have 4 ivory towers to complement my rhystic studies/mystic remoras. 4 ivory towers in play + 17 cards in hand during upkeep = lots of life :)
