Counter for Blue Skies

Well, the 10-yr old was tired of getting trounced in extended tounaments at the local card shop (he was playing a samurai deck), so against my better judgment, I built him this deck:

Spiketail Hatchling x 4
Rishadan Airship x 4
Stronghold Zeppelin x 4

Counterspell x 4
Daze x 4
Gush x 4
Wash Out x 4
Unsummon x 2

It's so annoying to play against!

Now I need an extended to play against it. What's the best matchup in the bargain decks (I have quite a few Urza and Mercadian block cards with some newer ones geared to white weenie)? I suppose SRB is always possible . . .

Anything with a lot of removal will batter that deck senseless.

Giz, are you suggesting that the removal be used to eat up the counter spells?

How many creatures would you recommend and which colors would be best?

Counterspells? What counterspells... he's only playing 4! You just play around Daze and Hatchling by not tapping out, making cards in his hand useless... and Wash Out is terrible maindeck if youre not based around permanents because it cannot be used to save his own creatures from your removal. You end up leaving him with a deck of only 20+ actual cards you care about, so you can't fail to win easily.

It's a Skies deck without Foil or Thwart and so it's ridiculously vulnerable to removal, especially because all the critters are so small. Your only worry would be the Morphlings, but if you play a counter-based control deck then those wouldnt hit play either, or untargetted removal.

If you can play around Washout and Daze then you'll win.

Foil and Thwart ... of couse, those used to be in the deck when I used to play it.

They're back in.

1st turn Mountain/Kris Mage... would probably spoil the deck's day quite a lot.

I just fell back to the old standby of Bobtowns in a fast G/W deck.
