Comment on this little anecdote

I invite comments from anyone who would care to react to this little story. I found it amusing, so I thought I'd like to share it.

I posted a Type 1 version of Rising Waters over at MTGnews (yeah, I still got there sometimes... sue me). I made the list imperfect on purpose to see what comments I got. Some responses were expected. "Why only 2 Ports? Use 4."

However, one in particular cracked me up so much that I almost laughed myself off my chair. Get this. The commentator basically said, "Ancestral Recall has no business being in Rising Waters because there's only 1, making it too situational."

Comments, anybody?

He/she is completly, utterly, and totally right. Ancestral recall is probably the most situational card in all of magic. The thing I dont think this poster ewalizes is its GOOD IN ALL SITUATIONS... Christ, some people havent been playing blue recently... or ever.

Pathetic

Bah, I played blue once (and hated it, thanks for asking) and even I know that Ancestral Recall's insanely good anytime at all :D

In retrospect that really came out wrong. I personally think mono-blue is boring to play, and its really only fun w/ white control. Ive always been a white/green man myself.

...MTGnews a website? Nevermind, I just tried the address, and yes, it's a website, a MAGIC website. Do you guys know about it? It looks good to me.

Here's the address if you don't know it: http://www.MTGnews.com.

I'm sorry, but I haven't been playing Magic for so long, and I don't surf the web very often, so I don't know what you people know, no matter what, I will always be the Guy from the other post(office).

About the Ancestra Recall thing: yeah, it makes you think if the guy who said that plays PokeMon or something.

...Yes, I get that question too. I play Magic and I work at the Post Office, that has got to be interesting. I don't rip people off, trust me. I'm an honest man. I have seen lost cards, from Foil rares to rares, commons, decks, and all kind of stuff, ofcourse, I tell the keep them in the post office just incase someone somehow finds out about them, and then, after 2 or 3 weeks, I'll just take the cards myself, hey, I've been working at a post office for about 9 years now and they'll give me everything, even lost cards.

About the Ansectral Recall, I think the person who said that comment about it played too much PokeMon, and had too much of Professor Oak(Discard you hand: Draw 7 cards.) so he thought that in Magic, it's just as common to draw cards as it is in PokeMon.

My 7 year old daughter collects PokeMon cards, but I have been trying to presuade her to play Magic. She won't try it.

PokeMon or Magic, Post Office or whatever, I will be called, by the area kids: The guy from the other post (office).

I don't think Fire Slinger was referring so much to the possibility of having cards ripped as having you run off on a shooting spree... :) 'Post Office,' and all... J/K No offense intended, of course! :) Just playin' 'round..

As for MtgNews... Here's the rundown!

MtgNews is a site not devoted to articles, per se, but literally, news about M:tG. The front page lists the latest rumors, news on websites, and major tournaments. Most of the activity actually occurs on the back page forums (there's a link on the left side of the screen labelled 'Discussion Center'). That's where decks get critiqued, people flame each other, etc... :) We get a lot of 'imported' posters from there, as you may have noticed... DUke, for example.

It's not a bad site, worth checking out if you want more tourney-oriented write-ups of decks. The front page is one of my every-day visits, due to the amount of news DG (that would be the webmaster) processes every day. :) Literally _everything_ that happens is there within 48 hours, and that's a very, very long delay.

"... up to the minute..."

How do you post a link? Please teach this ignorant girl.

If you're interested in seeing that post, it's in the Deck Advices forum on MTGnews. The title of the post was "Help a girl win a bet, please?" or something like that. I accidentally double-posted, so check both of them out. The one you're looking for is the long (though partly misguided) response of Mj23fcb (hard to remember the guy's username).

Duel, I don't know if he meant Ancestral Knowledge. For his sake, I hope that's what he thought it was. Otherwise, my respect for him stays at an all time low. Check out the post and judge for yourself.

Mr. Post Office Guy, you have a daughter? Wow. I'm jealous. It's going to be a long time before I get kids of my own. What's her name? (Please don't tell me she's a Pikachu fan... I prefer Jigglypuff myself :))

Everyone, it's nice to see you're as amused as I am. ;)

If you know the address (or link) or the place you want to go, just type in www.whatever.whatever and if you have the "automatically parse urls" at the bottom of your reply checked on, that's all you gotta do.

If you don't know the address, I usually go to the place, highlight the address (in the above box, depending if you're using Netscape or Explorer), go to Edit on the bar on top, and click "Copy". Then I come back here and in your post go back to Edit and click "Paste". Oh, and just highlight the www. part on (you don't need the http://)

Or if you have the "urls checked off" below, you can do it manually by putting [ url ] [ /url ] around the address (without the spaces, of course).

Confused? :)
