collation errors in time spiral

Man, that is just weird.. the average value of a pack just went up big time.

Offical post is as follows and will be public.
"Starting with Time Spiral, there has been a change in how premium cards
are distributed. Previously, premium cards replaced a card of the same
rarity, so a premium rare would replace a standard rare, a premium
uncommon would replace a standard uncommon, and a premium common would
replace a standard common. In Time Spiral and in future sets, all rare,
uncommon, and common premium cards will replace a standard common
instead. It is now possible for there to be two rares in one pack, the
standard rare card plus a premium rare (which replaces a standard
common)."

Did they say why the change? As a cynist might think, is it to increase the chances of rares in a pack and thus get more people to buy? :)

They've raised the prices recently right? I think they did it to compensate for the secondary market.. and its probably easier with printing & packaging..

That's all good, except it really screws with limited tournaments if you can potentially have +6 rares over your competitors.

I think it's awesome, considering I'm always the guy to the left of the guy who opens the bomb rare. Now I know I'll get something!

So there's two rares per pack (Purple and Gold, regular form), and then possibly another (Foil rare or Foil Purple)?

I won two pre-releases today so I'm the proud owner of about 1.5 booster boxes to open, which I'm ripping through now... I just opened Magus of The Disk, Shadowmage Infiltrator, and a FOIL Mishra, Artificier Prodigy. ****in' A! And I've already opened a triple-Rare booster with a foil Gauntlets Of Power in it.

If you ever wanted to not feel cheated when you open pack then buy Time Spiral, those triple-rare packs aren't that hard to find and probably half the packs have two 'rares' in thanks to the Timeshifted cards. Jesus this is the best set ever - Timeshifted cards are the best thing to ever happen to Magic.

I've particularly noted that the Timeshifted cards aren't well distributed. I've opened 6 boxes, which should be about enough to get roughly 2 of each Timeshifted card, but instead in many cases I've opened 4 or 5 of one card and absolutely none of many others.

Obviously that's always going to happen to some degree, but it just seems particularly polarised for the Timeshifted stuff, I've either got 0 or 3+, there's hardly anyting I've only got one of. Odd. I'm not complaining because that means I've picked up 4 Infilitrators, but it doesn't seem right.

Does that mean you have lots of Akroma's too? Myself, just opened up one box, and not Akroma, no Ur-Dragon, no Mishra....however I did get Teferi, a Lotus Bloom, Thelon and Tividar....just to name a few of the Rares....also pulled a foil Willbender to go with the other Willbender.

Biggest Dissapointment so far....the Foil Craw Giant...*sigh*

Throw him out second or third turn and see if your disappointed...

0 Akroma, 0 Call Of The Herd, 0 Whispers, 0 Dervish... but 3 Gemstone Mine, 4 Infiltrator, 4 Celestial Dawn, 4 Eron, 4 Grinning Totem, 5 Desert. Oh yeah... and 2 Foil Claws Of Gix. That's massively unlikely to pull 2 of the same Foil timeshifted card out of 6 boxes. It's just not a good sign of even distribution.

I did pull a foil Tormod's Crypt (sold for $65) and among TONS of foil Timeshifted stuff a foil Squire! I'm actually kind of proud of the Squire and attached to it - it has a wierd sense of value because it's the naffest of the naff.
